CIA director and Democratic appointee Leon Panetta, in an article published Sunday, said Democrats must recognize the “reality” of 9/11 is what drove the conduct of George W. Bush administration in the months following September 11, 2001, which somehow justifies not looking into suspected crimes.

He added, in an apparent warning to the House Intelligence Committee, that that “focusing on the past” could hurt the CIA’s core mission amid a climate of recriminations over its practices.

“I’ve become increasingly concerned that the focus on the past, especially in Congress, threatens to distract the CIA from its crucial core missions: intelligence collection, analysis and covert action,” Panetta opined in the online edition of The Washington Post.

Leon Panetta took the oath of office as director of the CIA Thursday, promising to provide President Barack Obama independent judgment and "the very best intelligence," free of politics.

3. 'Splain the "reality" of 9/11 to U.S. Leon and you might get a pass.
But I wouldn't count on it, if it's anything resembling the "truth" of 9/11.

6. I do sympathize with him,
but the facts indicate that the reality of 9/11 is NOT what drove their conduct; their conduct was motivate well before 9/11.

Unfortunately we may NEVER learn everything. For example, see recent BCCI posts here.

12. So Chimpy could have personally raped, murdered, and dismembered prisoners on camera by the hundreds
and Cheney could have gnawed at the flesh on their bones and it would be okay because 9/11 drove them to do it? A crime is a crime. How can any responsible government servant suggest that we turn our backs on suspected crimes, no matter why they were committed or who committed them?

14. Actually that's not what he said at all.
In fact the main gist of what he said was that the CIA should stop being used as a convenient target of blame for the former administration's policies.

17. I'm just going by the linked article
Whether the main thrust of his editorial was something else, I don't know, as it was apparently published elsewhere. But from the quotes at the link, he unmistakably says that we must not dwell on recriminations over what the Bush Administration might have done. He indicates that we must forget the past and put it behind us (apparently no matter what the Bush Administration did). He also continues to say that we are at war. I take it he means the never-ending war on terror (that will always exist as long as humankind exists, as terrorism will never end).

21. Fingerprints
Could they be afraid that maybe the investigations would lead to US officials and the CIA actually found to be involved in 9-11.
Did you ever see the movie "Charlie Wilson's War"? I suspect that members of our government/CIA were also involved along with Israelis. That lady Sibel Edmonds has the goods on a lot of people in our government. I'm surprised that they haven't killed her yet.

The Saudis and the Bush family are partners. They both sit on the board of our nations 6th largest defense contractor (The Carlyle Group). They got no bid contracts. So did that asshole Dick Cheney and his company Haliburton. Cheney had almost a half million shares of stock in that company. There stocks went from $20+ a share to over $80.00 per share due to him awarding them NO BID contracts. He put YOUR tax dollars in his pocket. Where are those WMD's? Remember what happened when Joe Wilson exposed there Yellow Cake evidence as a forgery? They outed his wife as a CIA agent. Obama still leaves a lot to be desired but he is an improvement over the most corrupt administration in the history of America. Didn't you ever wonder why Bush and Cheney didn't want an investigation into 9-11? And thet when they finally agreed to testify that Bush insisted that Cheney be with him when he did. Doesn't it bother you that they spent more money investigating Whitewater than they did for 9-11?

More false flag ops! Who really are the terrorists?
Two American Al Qaeda propagandist turn out to not be Muslims but Jewish actors!

Did you ever notice that the videos from Bin Laden that always appeared before the elections and when Bush was getting bad press that Bin Laden as the years went by was looking younger instead of older? In his first videos his beard had a lot of gray in it but not so on the more recent videos.

When that Berg kid had his head cutoff in Iraq by supposed Al Qaeda members did you notice that the Al Qaeda guys had white skin, The same orange jumpsuits that our military supplied to prisoners at Gitmo and Abu Graihb along with the same chairs from these places. That Berg kid was turned over to US forces in Iraq and then somehow ended up in the hands of Al Qaeda? That kid was killed by CIA contractors and used as a propaganda tool to get the country behind the war. Berg's father is a well known anti war activist. War = $$$$$$$$$$$$.

22. He's got it backwords (or sideways)
They fully intended to invade Iraq, torture suspects, violate search and siezure laws, illegally imprison people, etc. etc. etc.

9/11 isn't the reason, it's the excuse after the fact.

Edited on Mon Aug-03-09 01:34 AM by Sebastian Doyle
There is no such thing as an "outsider" running the CIA. Leon's been a "company" man all along, and he's helping The Company (a division of the Bush Crime Family since day one) keep their secrets.
