3. Hmm, another jobless recovery.
If there are no jobs, how can we have recovered?

If we have had a recovery, how come there are no jobs?

It's as if there are 2 different Americas: An America for the uber wealthy banker/Wall Street/Insurance firms that get welfare from a government they control and minimally pay for, and An America for the rest of us who pay huge taxes, have very little control over the government and get the absolute minimum for our tax dollars.

5. If Unemployment Stays At Double Digit Levels The Recovery Will Surely Fizzle
Employment is a lagging indicator. Employers have to have business to hire new employees. This depression, errrrr, recession has been longg and deep. It won't be until Obama's second term that we will see unemployment at acceptable levels.

8. SELL SELL SELL .... in my opinion.
If you didn't jump out at the bottom I'd have no qualms about doing it VERY soon. I'm convinced we're near the top for this particular move - if you're invested, just buy and hold your nose for a 30-year horizon you don't HAVE to but if you look at your account often enough that you say you haven't seen it "in three months" then it makes all kinds of sense to sell.

9. It won't. It never does....It'll appear as a boost in your 401K statement briefly....
.... then disappear with the next stock market collapse.

Why we fall for it is one of life's great mysteries.

11. Not to be obtuse
But the point of "buy low, sell high" is capturing those gains.

"Nobody can beat the market" is a myth, all they have to do is be selective about when they're in it. ;-)

13. Yeah, I know
I just really try to advocate the following:

If you can't shift even a portion of assets at tops and buy more when it's 50% down - I'd prefer you be in something safer and less "active" than stocks. If you're going to be in them and NOT do that, be prepared for massive losses and big gains on paper - but only look at actual returns over the full period of time you hold the investment. People who bought the S&P 10 years ago are basically at breakeven right now, ya dig?
