Iran 'Could Build a Nuclear Bomb Within Months'

Iran is poised to build a nuclear warhead, it was reported today.

Tehran will start manufacture as soon as it gets the nod from its Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, say intelligence sources.

Two years ago the nation stopped its nuclear arms research programme. American intelligence services believed this to be because it feared a U.S. invasion.

However intelligence officials told The Times today that the only reason Tehran stopped the research was because it had already achieved its goal.

The news has emerged on the same that the Ayatollah formally approved the second term presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The sources said it would take Tehran six months to enrich enough uranium and another six months to put the warhead together should they get the go-ahead.

Is this why the US is rushing the production of a 15-ton bomb and a threat from Iran? This reeks of 'a mushroom cloud will be too late' marching to war.

I wouldn't believe anything that the Mail says in this regard.

I think that I'll stick with those who are really in the know, the IAEA, and basic physics. The IAES stated in its last report that Iran isn't building a bomb program <http://www.iaea.org/NewsCenter/News/2008/iranreport0208.html>

Oh, and physics, well it states that given the slowness of enriching uranium via the centrifuge method, it's going to take years, a decade or more before Iran has enough material to make a bomb.

This is more fearmongering and saber rattling on the part of conservative Brits.

This is piffle, and poor piffle at that.
