The archbishop of westminster criticizes social networks on "friendship". UK teens react.

"A group of teenagers have reacted to warnings that using sites like Facebook, Bebo and Myspace can leave them traumatised.

The Archbishop of Westminster, the Most Reverend Vincent Nichols, says the sites encourage users to value the number rather than quality of friends they have.
...
He said: “It’s an all or nothing syndrome that you have to have in an attempt to shore up identity.
...
Ash is 19 and from London. He said: "These sites are just a different way of socialising and I think the nation’s the friendliest it’s ever been because of that."

well, i'd suggest mr nichols to open an account on MySpace and Facebook at least. so, just to have a glimpse of what it is sharing. quite a different feeling from soliloquy.

it's the church completely lost at sea, these years. "all or nothing at all" is its way, not the way of millions of people for whom the internet is a way to share and stay in touch - "love", of some kind for the most part.

they talk of things they do not know. and this is the next mistake in a page full of mistakes in the new millennium.

ciao DUers.
