They're Trying To SCARE Democrats From The Public Option!!

The Republican crazies are coming out in full force to local townhall and community events being held by Democratic lawmakers--with only one goal--to interrupt the Democratic lawmaker on health care reform, and shout right-wing talking points at him or her to scare the rest of his or her constituents at that event by sowing confusion and fear in the crowd. They want to break the Democrats and make them afraid to support REAL health care reform, and strip out the public option when they return back from the August recess.

We NEED you to call and USE the FDL Recess Tracker tool to find out where these Democratic lawmakers are going to be holding their town hall events, because we NEED you to attend these events to support your Democratic lawmaker's push for health care reform and urge him or her to support the public option in health care reform, because the crazies are going to out-work us on this issue if we don't step up now!

slinkerwink's diary :: :: So, it's damn time for us to step away from the computer, make these phone calls to their local district offices, not to their D.C. office, find out where your Democratic Member of Congress is going to be, whether he or she is a Progressive or a Blue Dog, and ATTEND that town hall with any sort of camera-recording equipment you can or your iPhone or cell phone.

1.USE THIS RECESS TRACKER TOOL to contact these Democratic lawmakers!
2.FIND OUT where they're going to hold their townhall events by calling their local office numbers on the list below. Tell the aide answering the phone that you want to attend the event because you've been hearing about right-wing Republicans attacking your Democratic member and that you want to attend to show your support for your Democratic member. If the aide says he or she doesn't know where his or her boss will be holding an event, ask the aide to transfer you to someone who can answer your question.
3.ATTEND the event, bring along a friend if you can, and a cell phone or a camera that has a video recording capability to upload the proceedings. If anyone interrupts the proceedings, aim your cell phone or camera at that person, and try to find out that person's name to see what organization they're linked with. When they stand up to interrupt, try to get you and your friends to stand up and to support your Democratic Member of Congress, and urge him or her not to listen to the right-wing crazies and continue supporting the public option you desperately need to keep private insurers honest. Also ask your Democratic Member of Congress, if he or she is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus or the Congressional Black Caucus or the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, to make the public option STRONGER and restore the subsidies back in the final legislation on the House floor!
4.REPORT BACK about your attendance of the event with the name of the Member of Congress in the subject line of the e-mail, and link to your video on Youtube if possible.
5.Basically, you use this FORM to enter in events and their dates for each Representative after having called the list of Democratic Members, and if you're going to attend the event or know someone who will be attending the event, please use this other FORM to enter in information about your attendance of the event.

2.Then enter in the information about the event RIGHT HERE with the recess tool tracker.
3.And use this tool to REPORT back about your attendance of the event they're holding!
These crazies are being bussed in by conservative groups such as Freedom Works and by lobbyists from the murder-by-spreadsheet industry to kill health care reform.

Over August recess, conservative activist groups will mount a renewed effort to kill the dreaded ObamaCare. August will be a melee of grassroots (or Astroturfed) activity on both sides: members of Congress will be home in their districts, holding town-halls, taking feedback from constituents--in other words, they'll be more open to pressure from activist campaigns than at any other time during the year.

It will be a semi-organized affair, with a handful of unaffiliated or loosely affiliated conservative groups urging their members to show up at Democrats' town-hall meetings, attend tea parties, call and visit the offices of senators and congressmen. There will also be a bus tour.

These crazies are following this strategy memo, which was leaked from a volunteer from Freedom Works, as you can see below:

– Artificially Inflate Your Numbers: “Spread out in the hall and try to be in the front half. The objective is to put the Rep on the defensive with your questions and follow-up. The Rep should be made to feel that a majority, and if not, a significant portion of at least the audience, opposes the socialist agenda of Washington.”

– Be Disruptive Early And Often: “You need to rock-the-boat early in the Rep’s presentation, Watch for an opportunity to yell out and challenge the Rep’s statements early.”

– Try To “Rattle Him,” Not Have An Intelligent Debate: “The goal is to rattle him, get him off his prepared script and agenda. If he says something outrageous, stand up and shout out and sit right back down. Look for these opportunities before he even takes questions.”

They're trying to fool our Democratic lawmakers into thinking there's widespread opposition to health care reform. You can see an example of what they're trying to do such as in their confrontation with Rep. Lloyd Doggett, one of our good guys who supports the public option:

This fight is serious. It's life and death for many Americans, and these right-wing loons are so deluded that they're saying "keep hands off their Medicare!" and yet oppose the public option. They're doing stuff like this all over the country, like to Arlen Spector in Pennsylvania, and to other Democrats, like our 57 progressive Democrats who signed the letter supporting a strong public option and refusing to vote for any bill that doesn't have the public option in it.

I'd also like to ask a little personal favor of you guys. I'm getting married today at 7:30 p.m., and would like it if you guys would give me a wedding present by using the recess tool tracker to put in events and using the report-back form to let us know what happened at that event. That would be the BEST wedding present ever, if you guys can keep on calling while I'm gone on my honeymoon, and use these two forms which I've highlighted above.
