This is their proof global warming doesn't exist (photo)>>>
Edited on Mon Aug-03-09 10:30 AM by goodboy
Dan "Boots" Longenette has a radio show that primarily focuses on classic cars and the auto industry in Columbus OH. He claims to be "in the middle" politically. He was my next door neighbor when I was growing up, and he's one of my facebook friends. His big thing is that global warming is a myth, and that the govt. should leave the auto industry alone, because cars aren't the problem. Apparently the problem is all in our heads. A volcano in Antarctica is causing that continent to melt. The govt has a "hurricane machine" that they put away after GWB left office. The earth is warmer because of sunspots...etc.

Anyway, here's his proof global warming doesn't exist:

<>

When I posted this damning evidence to the contrary,
<>
One of his parrots states, "look at 100 thousand year periods or at least slice up in 10k year increments they are called cycles economies go through them climates go through them and bitches like you go through them"

Just thought this would make you all smile on a Monday morning!

ON EDIT: Here's the link to his car show website, in case any of you would like to leave a comment: autosmarts4u.com

1. Middle?
He's in the middle of what, politically? In the middle of Hitler and Stalin?

2. It's something he says because he thinks it gives him credibility.
I should post the whole comment thread. It's something.

12. Is he a birther?
Disbelief in one area often leads to disblief in another...sounds like an "interesting" guy to talk to.

3. Regardless of everything else in this post
that is a wonderful pic, of the little girls in parkas fighting global warming.

Maybe they should explain it to him.

5. his contention is that if the earth is warming, why are they freezing?
it's nonsensical. it'd be like posting a picture of death valley, and claiming that it proves global cooling doesn't exist.

7. gotta be careful with the satellite imagery
cause then they pull out something like this (which is not satellite imagery but is based on it)...which is more current and shows ice at or near median...

10. never mind that there's a big difference between May and July.
Trying to discredit melt rates in July with data from may is comparing grapes to grape-nuts.

They only LOOK similar.

11. and the OP pic is 2007 vs today
Edited on Mon Aug-03-09 11:15 AM by ProdigalJunkMail
what's your point? this pic shows that in may of this year ice was at or near median level...yes, i agree ice is at a lower level now...but it is 8% higher than last year at this time...and here is a pic that shows the exact levels as of few days ago. Not nearly so dramatic...

Look, all I am saying is that you throw a graphic up like this one (or any other for that matter) and it can go tit-for-tat. What needs be shown is median levels for PERIODS and how THOSE are changing...like 2000-2009MEDIAN vs. 1979-2000MEDIAN. That you could not refute...

15. I prefer the term "radical global climate change"
hotter hot spells
colder cool spells
wetter rainy seasons
drier desert regions
