Until now, members of the Sarpy County Democratic Party have held meetings in living rooms and restaurants.

That will change later this month when the group moves into its first official headquarters, in Olde Towne Bellevue.

Chairwoman Carol Blood said the organization will make its home at 119 Mission Ave., in a small strip mall that also houses the Downtown Coffee Shop and Habitat for Humanity. A grand opening is planned Aug. 22, immediately following the Arrows to Aerospace parade.

Having a storefront will create a community footprint for the political party, Blood said, and will allow the public to come in and see some of the community activities the group is involved in besides political campaigns.

“It’s going to give people a good opportunity to meet Sarpy County Democrats and see all the things that we do kind of under the radar,” she said.

The Sarpy County Republican Party had an Olde Towne office near Mission Avenue and South Washington Street for a couple of years until about four years ago, said Chairman Ken Ragland.
