Why would AAR dump Sam Seder and not The Young Turks?
I mean there is no comparison between those two shows.

Young Turks are lightweights compared to Sam Seder.

Drop Young Turks, move Seder to their morning slot and bring Lionel in at the 9 to noon slot.

Just My opinion.

1. When thinking in terms of ratings...
You must consider that the bulk of listeners are not very deep thinkers. Yes, even on "our" side. All art forms are subjective, and the numbers mean money.

I used to work for a guy with a small movie production company and my main complaint to him was that he needed to make up his mind as to what his expectations really were... did he want to create great cinema? Or a box office blockbuster? If you look at the vast quantity of movies released each year, how many can you think of, what percentage of those movies are both great cinema and great box office?

3. Sam's show always worked better at night.
Besides the morning time is for fluff. Who wants to get pissed off on the way to work?

4. That's why Steph Miller is great for the morning commute!
Even when the news is horrid, the laugh helps... spoonful of sugar and all that.

Still, Arbitron rules the airwaves. I'm guessing the Turks have a high AQH rating and the powers-that-be are getting greedy, so they're looking for more fans in another slot. It's all about the money.

2. "Lightweight" progressivism seems to be were the ad revenues are.
On the AirAm web site, new owner Mark Green brags that Lionel has been #1 in his time slot in New York City. His time slot, however, is 9-11 PM--how hard is that?

6. I like Lionel. He's funny, witty and topical but...

I can't see why AAR couldn't find a daily slot for Sam Seder somewhere in their
daily lineup.

They certainly have some shows on at night that are pathetic that could be dropped for Seder's show...

Oh well....

5. I wish I knew.
I can't take it anymore... after listening almost daily since AAR started, I now officially give up on Air America Radio. I'm dumbfounded by the decision to retain the Young Turks for any reason. Losing Sam is bad enough, but replacing him with a smack-tard like Lionel is the absolute final straw.

If Sam gets picked up on another network, I'm there.

8. Thanks, BuyingThyme!
Just FYI though, I've been lurking DU for a few years now. I only speak-up when something really gets under my skin, like this issue.

You now, I'm still amazed how friendly DU'ers are, and how many welcomes I still get. I feel so included, gonna make me cry now, sniff...

9. I like the Turks
I prefer Sam, but Cenk and Ben are great guys make me laugh, are reliably progressive and are very accessible to their audience
The Morning lineup was what AAR had right. It's the post-Randi/Maddow nobdies that need work

10. My understanding is that Ecotalk/Politically Direct are self-funding
They come with their own sponsors, therefore they cost AAR nothing to run.

11. I listened to them a couple of times and then...
One of them went on a rant about how come the feminists didn't criticize Bill Clinton for the Lewinsky affair. Then it was buh-bye Young Turks for me.

14. I can stand Young Turks better now that Jill's gone, but it is still
quite often boring to me...Damn Danny Goldberg for ditching Marc Maron and Morning Sedition...Sam would have been just fine in an evening spot...

Call me pissed....

12. Sam Seder probably gets a bigger salary than the three of them combined.
Sam Seder was a TV actor/writer/producer before he started on AAR.
