81-Yr Old Urinates in Park (update w/video)
Source: WKRG TV Mobile, AL

Back in June, nature called after Eula Mae Battle paid a visit to her bank in Downtown Mobile. They didn't have a public restroom and Battle says she couldn't make it to the restroom on the other side of the square fast enough. "I was trying to make it across the road. All of them cars coming that way..and I couldn't get across, and I urinated on myself. I was wet. All my shoes and everything were wet", says Battle.

So, the 81-year old jumped in some nearby bushes to relieve herself. It just so happened that the bushes surrounded a Mobile Police substation. She was arrested and charged with public lewdness. Battle says, "I was crying, please don't put me in jail. Please don't put me in jail. I was crying".

Mobile Police won't comment on the case but tell us that Battle's trial is set for September. Battle is out on bond until that trial.
By then, Battle will be 82-years old.

Video at link.
One of the saddest things I've seen.
Mrs. Battle is black.
I have to wonder how it might have gone if she had been an elderly white woman.
I hope the judge throws the case out.

1. They would have called a friend or relative to come and help.
But because she is black...lets just humiliate the old battle axe help her on her way toward maximum
pain. "To protect and serve" unless your black.
:nuke: :grr: I hate this kind of shit.

2. Jesus fucking christ.
Just who was officer friendly serving and protecting with that one?

Obviously there is a need for toilets in the parks...but it's easier to bust a granny.

3. It's bad enough they arrested her but they required Bond too? She's 81 yrs old & from her
comments about going to church and home I doubt she's a candidate from going on the lame. :eyes:

6. I agree, seems that a simple citation should have been sufficient.

4. Sounds to me like her "crime" was her race
No way in h*ll they would have required bond from an elderly white woman.

5. "Public lewdness?" What is "lewd" about an 81 yr old woman pissing in the bushes?

16. Seriously... that struck me too....

With enough 81 year old women peeing in the bushes, you could pretty much eliminate public lewdness of any kind, entirely, for miles around.

8. Why would a bank not have a public rest room?

Sounds like a throwback to the days of the "White Only" signs.

11. Most independent branches don't
have public restrooms but, they really should have made an exception for her.

The people at the bank are douchebags for making her have an accident.

17. I don't think douchebags would have been helpful in these circumstances....

...but I have a sneaking suspicion that other customers of the bank can probably use the restroom.

Just a hunch.

10. how sad
That poor woman was already embarassed because she pissed all over herself and they took away what little dignity she had left. Sometimes I wonder why cops do the things they do .

When I am 82 I hope they spare me their "help"

12. The proper response --
would have been to ask her into the station to clean herself up, and offer her use of the phone if she wanted to call someone to help her home.

Gee, how hard woudl that have been?

14. And in the absence of someone to pick her up,
DRIVEN HER HOME THEMSELVES. Whatever happened to "community policing?" :banghead:

This was a WHITE rookie, eh?

15. I think they forgot the "serve" part of --
"to protect and serve". This story makes me so sad and angry -- to pick on someone so vulnerable -- how big a shitheel do you have to be??
