Senate Democrats Willing to Bypass GOP on EVERYTHING
I saw a similar headline, and just wanted to give some encouragement to our Democratic leaders.

No more wasting time on bipartisanship. Time to get things done. Gas up the steamroller.

4. I saw the map yesterday of how blue the country's turned
It was something like 350 electoral votes for democrats, 15 for republicans according to the last poll.

In terms of public support/popular opinion, I don't understand why Bush had a mandate, but we feel it's necessary for the 350 to reach across the aisle to the 15 and meet them halfway.

8. That's the one!
Why we feel the need to meet them halfway for political expediency is beyond me.

I suspect if the map were recolored to show corporate lobbyists instead of the general public, it would probably be more clear why our elected officials feel the need to compromise. At some point, their explanations of why they can't pass legislation are going to become more and more transparent.

12. my dad ..... a retired prof. once worked @ the RNC .... he has voted
democratic in the presidential elections since 1996.

He sees the party as now run by fundy losers who have pissed away trillions.

There used to be the New England rock ribbed republican .... fiscal conservative, educated, and supported human rights.

They are either dead or have long left the party.

15. And, yet... some DUers will still say the South is more conservative
than any other region.

Looks like the Plains are the winners of that particular meme.

It certainly does not describe the current situation.
