FYI : "inciting a riot..."
Q. What does the charge inciting a riot mean?

-- Anonymous

A. Under federal law, a riot is a public disturbance involving an act of violence by one or more persons who are assembled in a group of at least three people. The act of violence must be one that presents a clear and present danger of injury to another person or damage to another person's property. Threatening to commit a violent act in such a group situation that could injure another person or damage property is also considered a riot if one of the persons in the group has the ability at the time to carry out the threatened violence.

Inciting a riot applies to a person who organizes, encourages, or participates in a riot. It can apply to one who urges or instigates others to riot...

The federal crime of inciting a riot carries a possible penalty of up to five years in prison a fine.

2. That's one of the reasons I didn't encourage Dems to go to
the TH meetings and fight back against the pubs who are disrupting the meeting. I'm really afraid there WILL be a riot, and of course you know who will be blamed for that!

4. Well when 5 officers have to escort a Congressman to his car for his safety
but those same police officers don't start arresting those that have threatened to harm him...then we have a huge problem.

9. Precisely. It's not as though this can be approached as if it's an even playing field
...cause it's most certainly not.

U.S. Representative Tim Bishop has temporarily suspended holding “town hall” style meetings after Suffolk County Police were called by residents to escort him back to his car amid a throng of rowdy protesters who turned out for a meeting in Setauket last month.

13. Comments like these would seem to back that up.

"Mr. Schneider said Mr. Bishop never felt threatened by the protesters and that none of them ever made any threatening gestures toward him or touched him physically in any way."

14. I saw footage on Rachel's show last night.
It was definitely intimidation, definitely thuggish behavior... but didn't seem to reach the level of violence from what I saw... that's why I asked if there was any of that happening.

15. That's why we need to inflitrate and inflame these demonstrations.
If these rallies start turning into riots it will generate a huge backlash against the GOP.
