Between saving the ship crew from the Somali pirates, and the two journalists from N Korea....

The Obama administration, with extreme help from former President Clinton, has had more foreign policy success in 7 months than the Bush administration had in 8 years.

Who'd they ever save from harm?

2. 2001: Hainan Island incident
Edited on Tue Aug-04-09 03:42 PM by Eric J in MN

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hainan_Island_incident

United States Navy EP-3E ARIES II signals surveillance aircraft and a People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) J-8II interceptor fighter jet resulted in an international dispute between the United States and the People's Republic of China (PRC) called the Hainan Island incident.

The EP-3 was operating about 70 miles (110 km) away from the PRC-controlled island of Hainan when it was intercepted by two J-8 fighters. A collision between the EP-3 and one of the J-8s caused the death of a PRC pilot, while the EP-3 was forced to make an emergency landing on Hainan. The 24 crewmembers were detained and interrogated by the Chinese authorities until a letter of apology was issued by the United States Government. It was the first foreign policy crisis in the presidency of George W. Bush.

-------------------------------------------

Early in the Iraq War, there were also US POWs released.

14. China manufactures all our junk. We're totally dependent on them.
Corporate America and the banksters would be screaming to high heaven and back again if GWB jeopardized relations by digging in his heels. I honestly don't know how else we could've handled the situation.

9. You consider that a success?
Us having to kiss Chinese ass just so we could get our men back and a few scraps of a plane that had already been used by the Chinese?

4. Indeed. Obama gives the "fire" order when needed, and uses diplomacy when needed...
Most excellent judgment.

10. Well...
You make it sound like the douchebag bush had any foreign policy success... That fuck head made us perhaps the most hated country in the world.

This is not to belittle President Obama, nor former President Clinton, they are showing it as is should be done.

13. Foreign policy is Obama's strong suit.
It was before Hillary joined forces with him, but he also gets a lot of help from her. They make a great team on foreign policy.
