He's (Wyden) been on tv for days now, calmly laying out the plan, and he's apparently having some success, but NO ONE is pressing him for the most important part.
His plan (as near as I can tell) is :
mandated (okay by me, IF the price is fair) "just like what HE has"..
I would like a few things addressed..(has anyone got the inside skinny on this?)
How much is the US government ponying up for insuance coverage. It's pretty useless to know what the senator/congresscritter/govt.employee's share is, if we do not know what the TOTAL cost is.
getting "access" to a marketplace of insurance options, just like the government people have, is of little use, if the individual has to pay the total cost.. (That's COBRA, by another name)
For a person working for $10 an hour, at a place with no coverage, this means they either have to convince their bos to pick up the same amount that the government does, or they have to pay it all on their own,. I have heard the figure $10K tossed around; If that's correct (for a family plan), and the employee pays $200 a month, who's going to pay the other $7600.00? a boss with 4 or 5 other employees? (that's $38K). Can a $10 an hour person afford to pay $200 a month AND co-pays?
I think Ole Ron is showing us apples & charging us for oranges.
