thing is, this is what guys like this do for a living....24/7/52. rachel had some facts to go up against him with, but he weaseled out of much of it, even employing the 'let me get back to ya' ploy re: Exxon money.

when these types come on, the host, as much as he/she studies the issue at hand, can NOT usually counter specific propaganda points spewing forth from the likes of Phillips. the host needs to have somebody else on, who's as knowledgeable as the spewee.

Rachel did OK (especially when she elicited the very defensive 'gotcha politics' response, which showed one of the two chinks in his PaRmor), but she really had no comeback for a lot of what he said, because she didn't know the details necessary to call him on his lies, the Exxon cite being an example. I wish she'd had the exact numbers/years with which to nail him, instead of accepting his 'get back to you later'

the fact that this arrogant prick was so comfortable on the show, and bragged about them 'winning' the battle really made me want to vomit.

did she mention that these monsters are spending almost a million and a half bucks a day on buying the public's bamboozelement? I wish that number would be pounded home, over and over and over, and make people realize just how desperate corporate America is for profit to remain the major motive factor behind the public "health" system

A lot of these guys on the right are indeed professional hucksters who will say or do absolutely anything to make a buck and keep a straight face, especially emboldened if they're up against a woman. The Ed Show has some of these guys on but usually has other panel members on with them to help counter their professional lies.

I think she's doing fine and particularly well on exposing the corporate backers, but some days are naturally better than others when she takes some chances on her guests.
