"Take a biopsy of this polyp over here."

You'll be fine.

Unless you're like this guy I know who was more afraid of the painkillers than of the procedure itself, and insisted on minimal medication.

5. Good luck greenbriar, that kind of cancer runs in my family
It took out most of a whole generation - my maternal grandfather and most of his siblings. I am 51 and have had three colonoscopies.

I hope yours is treatable and that you get good care.

7. Good luck and make sure to treat yourself well afterwards
whenever I have to undergo something like that, I make sure I have a good wine chilled and a good ice cream in the freezer so I can come home and sulk and pamper myself. The pre-doctor shopping so I have some small thing to look forward to when I get home is part of my ritual, dumb as it might sound.

8. You must be glad to be getting this thing addressed quickly
I hope all goes well and you are all set by the time school starts. The heck with those teacher in-service days, they always seem such a waste of time to me.

14. My daughter's is Wednesday
(Just annual screening for her). Good luck!

I saw the question on the other thread regarding whether a biopsy would hurt - if you've had colonoscopies in connection with Crohn's, you SHOULD have been having ~ 20 - 30 biopsies during each colonoscopy. (Of course, they also should have been relaying the results so you knew that you had them ;)

Also If they did not run a liver panel, you should ask about it. RUQ pain can be associated with another (rare) autoimmune disease (Primary sclerosing cholangitis) that has a significant overlap with IBD. Pancreatitis and gall stones are also frequently associated with PSC, and cholangitis attacks can cause significant pain in the same area. Far too many GI docs treating patients with crohns or UC do not ask the right questions, or perform the regular screening tests, to diagnose it. My daughter's didn't. PM me if you want more info.

chocolate and some sleep. You will feel much better. Usually they find nothing conclusive. Good vibes.

...the procedure itself is no problem, it is the 'prep' that is a literal pain in the ass.
