"pro" & "con," with Obama supporters behaving as though the manufactured controversy is a real issue.

Thus it becomes, for all practical purposes, real.

People talk about it, waste energy on it, get irate about it...

though it has nothing to do with the actually existing conditions of their lives.

The molding of what is laughably termed "political discourse" grows so surreal & absurd you have to laugh.

I assume it has to do with the presumed Health Care Reform, and diverting the attention away from it. But assuming gets me nowhere.

What also might happen, with all the Birthers airtime, is some right wing nut from a socially and demographic deprived part of the country (note I'm not pointing to 'the South') takes it in his/her head to get rid of the 'Foreign Fake President'. Of course, this is a worst case scenario. I'm just wondering.

Can anyone tell me about the sentiments surrounding JFK during the period he was assassinated? Was that like it is now concerning Obama - lots of un-equal scrutiny, while the opposite side gets away with anything short of murder/genocide? (oh, wait...)

I could put up a long list of astroturfed "outrages", "issues" and "scandals" all framed by the rushpublicans and perpetuated by their endless lies and distortions. From the "librul media" to "Obama is a muslim"...the politics of personal destruction have been a major tool in the GOOP arsenal...and it works.

Tell a lie enough times and have enough people say it, people start to first doubt the truth then beleive the lie. Marshall McLuann would be amazed.
