Many of you have probably received a mailing from the Senior Citizen League warning that there will not be a Social Security cost-of-living-adjustment (COLA) for 2010. Unfortunately, this mailing is correct; the Obama administration has announced there will not be a COLA for 2010 and might not be a COLA for 2011 and 2012 as well. ... As your Member of Congress, I am aware of the situation and am committed to protecting your Social Security benefits.....

Only one thing Ginny, by law the SS COLA is set by the Consumer Price Index (CPI). It is in the negative so far this year. It is not expected to be positive enough to merit a COLA raise for about 3 years.
