Krugman - A Telling Incident At A Town Hall
Paul Krugman:

There was a telling incident at a town hall held by Representative Gene Green, D-Tex. An activist turned to his fellow attendees and asked if they “oppose any form of socialized or government-run health care.” Nearly all did. Then Representative Green asked how many of those present were on Medicare. Almost half raised their hands.

1. The pig ignorance of these people is staggering
but we need to remember they're really not protesting changes to the health care system.

They're protesting the election of a black guy with a funny name instead of the usual pudgy white guy from their own party (read: team).

6. I'm sorry but pigs are quite intelligent animals.
These rethuglican robots don't even come close in measuring up to pigs.

4. "Keep the government out of my Medicare"
Edited on Fri Aug-07-09 09:55 AM by Canuckistanian
And yet, if you try to explain to them what Medicare is, they'll deny it and accuse you of spouting propaganda.

You can't win.

5. Funny, but I'm beginning to believe that America can no longer survive as a democracy because of the
glaring ignorance of its populace.

7. That is why the Republics want to destroy good public education.
Stupid people are easy to scare, and fool. Hell, millionaires and dumb people are their demographic.

8. He brings up a good point.
"...But right now Mr. Obama’s backers seem to lack all conviction, perhaps because the prosaic reality of his administration isn’t living up to their dreams of transformation. Meanwhile, the angry right is filled with a passionate intensity.

And if Mr. Obama can’t recapture some of the passion of 2008, can’t inspire his supporters to stand up and be heard, health care reform may well fail."

Remember that definition of insanity - doing the same thing.......etc. That is probably the best argument to cease this bi-partisan posing and move forward. All that is bring accomplished is thick skulled rethugs are being dragged, kicking and screaming (into a microphone), to the table but they are NOT going to partake of one morsel, so let 'em starve!

9. Lawrence O'Donnell vs. Peter Schiff
On Morning Joe - Peter Schill, I mean, Schiff, (Crashproof) was making a Republican talking point about "socialized" medicine when O'Donnell asked him if he liked Medicare. Schiff said no, that Medicare was detrimental to the "market" or some foolishness like that. Then, O'Donnell went in for the kill. "Are your parents on Medicare?" Schiff started ummming and errrrring and said his father was on Medicare but he was "a special case." Scarborough went immediately to a break.

Link to video - health care begins @ 8 minutes

I would call this electronic Greek chorus of corporatists - whores, but most of the whores I know are pretty honest and unhypocritical. I prefer to call them subsidized liars.

10. Just set up a copy machine at the entrance of the meetings
Photocopy peoples' driver license or id when they enter. Before starting the meeting announce that the Social Security Administration will be notified of those who are wishing to opt out of 'socialized government health care' like Medicare.

Watch them scatter like roaches.
