For the first time in my 60 years, I honestly believe a mainstream American political party
is making every effort to orchestrate an attempt on a sitting President's well being. Listen to the mainstream right wing media, notice the cloaked language used by Republican leaders, and especially notice the violence being set up by the corporate world.

Now remember, this you can see and hear....can you imagine the wonderful world of shortwave, where the real nuts live?

This is a scary scary time.

27. I'm convinced
that someone is going to be hurt, maybe killed.

It's building and building, and there's always at least one killer out there, someone who's going to get himself into the history books, and, at the same time, save "his America."

It won't be Obama, but I fear. I fear for someone, a liberal, someone is going to be hurt by these people and all their hate............

Apparently it is not.

Did JFK's enemies shut down his town halls?

11. Oh hell, it's older than my above example, check the Business Plot
The Business Plot (also the Plot Against FDR and the White House Putsch) was a reported political conspiracy in 1933 which involved wealthy businessmen plotting a coup d’état to overthrow United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1934 retired Marine Corps Major General Smedley Butler testified to the McCormack-Dickstein Congressional committee that a group of men had approached him as part of a plot to overthrow Roosevelt in a coup. In the opinion of the committee these allegations were credible. One of the purported plotters, Gerald MacGuire, vehemently denied any such plot. In their report, the Congressional committee stated that it was able to confirm Butler's statements other than the proposal from MacGuire which it considered more or less confirmed by MacGuire's European reports. However, no prosecutions or further investigations followed. Historians have questioned whether or not a coup was actually close to execution, most agree that some sort of "wild scheme" was contemplated and discussed. Contemporaneous media initially dismissed the plot, with a The New York Times editorial characterizing it as a "gigantic hoax;" When the committee's final report was released, the Times said the committee "purported to report that a two-month investigation had convinced it that General Butler's story of a Fascist march on Washington was alarmingly true" and "It also alleged that definite proof had been found that the much publicized Fascist march on Washington, which was to have been led by Major. Gen. Smedley D. Butler, retired, according to testimony at a hearing, was actually contemplated".

10. Substitute Obama's picture and the word "Islamic" for communism.
Same shit, different day.

Because they can't respect the majority opinion in a democracy, they are helping to undermine the foundation of this country's progress. We'll continue to lose ground to the rest of the world until we end up fracturing into a bunch of fiefdom's that will guarantee our demise as a 1st world country.

12. Jesse Helms told Clinton not to come to NC without a bodyguard
Ann Coulter wrote in a book our only choices re Clinton were "to impeach or assassinate." Falwell accused him of murdering Foster and Brown, plus others. Aldrich said his wife was a lesbian sybarite who defiled the White House Christmas tree with dildo ornaments. They all accused him of colluding with China to weaken our defense posture with technology transfers. That's just a taste of what he got. It doesn't minimize what they're doing to Obama, but the wingers were doing a whole lot more than just trying to oust Clinton.

29. Excellent!
Cermak's assassination - and the climate surrounding his political life - is really glossed over, or ignored, in American history, and I can't understand why. It couldn't have been more dramatic - shaking hands with FDR, and he gets shot?

He was every bit the "outsider," as Obama is, the "black" who dared to take on the Irish establishment. He drove the White People insane, didn't he?

He was gutsy, Anton was. Len O'Connor - do you remember him? - wrote a lot about him. I loved Len O'Connor.

Good one, Gabi.................

6. The only thing is that the GOP hasn't really been mainstream since before 2000.
Once the far-right Christian Evangelicals got a huge upswing of power in the party, it stopped being mainstream.

8. Corporate America is throwing a tantrum..
Because for the first time in our history, people in and out of power are questioning their true motives.

I fully expected this fight, but I didn't expect racism and violence to be the tools they used. Guess I overestimated their maturity. They're going to lose because they chose this path.

15. I'm afraid we're ALL going to lose because they are choosing this path.
This is the corporatists pushing this. This is the ugliest face of the military industrial congressional complex that has been a parasite on generations of people the world over. It is time there was a HUGE revolution (peaceful, I hope) wehre corporations can be under the thumb of governments, and governments under the majority rule of their citizens, rather than the other way around. The corporations have become a cancer on the entire globe...global warming, for instance.. and it's time we put a stop to it. The military-owned and oil-supported (Fox news) media has shown their ugly faces to be the ring leaders. WHY are they being allowed to put this country in danger?

14. Here's a thought........tell your Republican friends as they rail about things
like affirmative action and race relations, point out that Barrack Obama, perhaps the most charismatic candidate since JFK, most likely won because the Bush administration had stunk up the Republican brand so badly that McCain didn't have a chance.
As great a candidate as Obama was, and is, it was the independents jumping the Republican ship that elected him.
IMO, of course.

19. I just sent an E-mail to the Southern Poverty Law Center,
requesting that they offically designate the Republican Party as a Hate Group and place it on their watch list.

For anyone who isn't familiar with the SPLC, they do an excellent job of tracking and fighting these groups. If you can, I strongly urge you to support them.

I also urge anyone concerned about what's happening in this country to contact them. Here's the link:

23. Southerners were talking like this about Kennedy back in the day,
but not so openly. I just pray for President Obama's safety and health. I don't always agree with him, and when I don't, I write about my opinion here on DU, but I think he is one of the best presidents we have had, certainly the best since Jimmy Carter. He is a good man. The hate just is unwarranted. Most of my criticism is that he is too kind, too compassionate toward people who do not wish him or the ideals of Democrats well. I pray for him. That's about all I can do other than to show up and support my liberal congressman.

They whine like a bunch of spoiled children, and hurl invective every which way hoping some shit sticks to the walls. They did it to Carter and Clinton, I know they did it to FDR, probably to every single Democratic Administration ever.
