7. My aunt is on life support in San Salvador since Sunday.
It feels like my parents' generation are all going much faster than I can let them go.

I lost both of my parents within the past couple of years. Grandparents are gone. It is a strange feeling that is taking me a while to get used to.

15. My mother died almost 6 years ago
and my dad died 3 years ago.

I think that weird feeling is the knowledge that we're the grownups now, there's nobody left to go to for help.

16. When you're a kid, people your grandparents know, die
In your 30's & 40's, it's people your parents know, and after that, it's people YOU know..your peers.

My son is the exception to this..

By the time he was 25, SEVEN of his friends had died..all in accidents.(none involved drinking done by the ones killed) 4 died in one accident.:(

18. Damn that must have been hard for him
I remember when the first of our friends died in an accident decades ago.
His name was Danny and he crashed on his bike. Elton John's Daniel was released a few months before - we cried every time we heard that song.

17. 100% correct
Still it's a nice feeling watching the 20 year olds taking charge of family situations. It's as if they know that they move up a level as the oldest generation passes on.

I remember mom telling my brother that her responsibility was not to make him love her, but to ensure that he could survive and thrive as a responsible adult. She added that if he loved her that was the bonus.

12. It's hard
We only have one aunt left on my side and hubby's mom on his. She's 84 now and it's painful to watch how frail she is these days.
