Right Wing Freak Threatening SEIU : “You’re Gonna Come Up Against The Second Amendment” ... audio
Edited on Fri Aug-07-09 03:34 PM by RedEarth
An official with SEIU, which has been sending members to town halls to counterbalance the Tea Party brigade, sends over this audio of a phone call the union says it received on its central voicemail system, threatening to teach union officials a thing or two about “the Second Amendment”…

The call seems to refer to reports today to scuffles in St. Louis between SEIU members and town hall rowdies.

“I suggest you tell your people to calm down, act like American citizens, and stop trying to repress people’s First Amendment rights,” the caller says. “That, or you all are gonna come up against the Second Amendment.”

More in a bit.

Update: Brian Beutler reports that an anti-health care reform organizer is explicitly calling on the troops to “carry” and if SEIU members get disruptive, to “hurt them.”

Update II: The threat comes after Rush Limbaugh went on the offensive against SEIU today and even gave out the address of the union’s St. Louis’ headquarters.

......audio of threat here........

1. We need to start thinking about being armed
when we go to the town hall events... and the union folks need to bring axe handles with them.

These people are thugs, pure and simple. No different than the corporate hired "police" force used to break up union meetings. They aren't there for their "first amendment" rights, they are there to silence everyone else.

3. Absolutely not!
Talk about throwing gas on a fire.

You don't think these people are NRA gun nuts?

8. No, I KNOW that they are NRA gun nuts.
Having already attended my local town hall.

They were threatening and intimidating.

But they are the same playground bullies that I remember from 4th grade. The first time someone stands up to them, they reveal themselves to be the cowards that they really are.

At the meeting I went to, there was ONE officer and he didn't do anything to stop them, even when a shoving match started between a Latino man and a couple of the birthers (who were shouting at him to "go home to Mexico" and "we need the Border Patrol" and other shit like that). The cop did nothing but watch.

25. stand up to an INDIVIDUAL bully, and he'll back down.
but if the bully feels he's part of a gang, then no way he'll back down.

4. We need not to say things like that on publicly open forums
lest someone think we are as fucking stupid as the disrupters.

6. No way
When they get out of hand and start stuff, we need to be able to demonstrate that they were 1) not provoked and 2) they were the ones who came ready to rumble. Our side can't afford to be painted as a bunch of labor agitators.

The tactics being employed by the anti-reform crowd are already backfiring on them. We can't allow the public or the media to conflate the behavior of the two sides and start saying "everybody's at fault".

7. Stupid idea
going armed into a big crowd. It's what the vicious bastards on the radio are telling their side to do.

We need to use this to get the vicious bastards off the radio. This is no longer a free speech issue. This is incitement to violence.

The police are a bunch of pantywaists for ignoring it, too.

29. No, the cops are on the side of the wingers
Otherwise they'd have tasered, shot, beaten and arrested a whole bunch of these mofos by now.

Face it, no one in government or law enforcement is on our side.

No one.

33. Yes, and some fool will probably have to shoot for the police to act
as well as the FBI and FCC to start taking the ranting of right wing shock jocks a little more seriously.

I just don't want our side doing the shooting. We get our heads broken enough by the corporatist law enforcement.

11. All of the evidence, so far, is that the police and possibly
even the national guard will do nothing to stop the "patriots".

Almost all of the birthers that showed up to my town hall meeting were from Sierra Vista (home of Ft. Huachucha). Overhearing them blab on before the event started, I figured out that they were mostly retired or ACTIVE DUTY military, with many of them making comments about this or that "on base". The active duty (but not in uniform) members you could figure out because of the haircuts and general demeanor and by how YOUNG they were.

And the cop that showed up did absolutely nothing to stop them from demonstrating or disrupting, and didn't even lift a finger when a group of them ganged up on the lone Mexican-American man there (and this was in a border town where 90% of the residents are Mexican-American). They shouted in his face (calling for Border Patrol to arrest him and for him to "go back to Mexico") and two of them shoved him around a bit.

from what I can see. We can't expect much help from them.

12. It is a violation of the law to deploy active duty military within the US.
Calling out the Nat. Guard is one thing. Calling out the Marines is against the law.

22. Good grief. Everyone needs to effing calm down. You do know that it is illegal to deploy the marines
domestically, right? While Shrubbie and Darth Cheney once considered breaking the law and doing this, hell will freeze over before Obama ever will.

So Beck and Hannity and Savage aren't ever going to achieve their paranoid wet dream, okay?

And you might want to take a chill pill as advised on another thread. It's becoming pretty obvious why you signed up and what your agenda is.

to point the finger at someone else.

And as you pointed out downthread, these morons are cowards. Let them huff and puff. It's our duty and responsibility to remain calm, cool and collected, hold up our signs, ignore verbal insults by walking away and maybe taking one on the jaw, if need be -- at which point you drop to the ground crying and moaning and let the perpetrator leave in handcuffs.

All of this amped up rhetoric is not helping. It will only hurt the objective: to get health care reform passed.

30. Absolutely not.
That's exactly what they want. Don't give them any opportunity to claim equivalence. We need to be the peaceful ones. I know that takes some courage, but we have to show that they are the violent ones and not us. Certainly if someone throws a punch then you need to defend yourself, but never start anything and don't bring arms.

Don't give them any reason to get violent. If they do get violent without provocation then so much the worse for the public perception of their them.

2. Ah fuck. We won the election but the war isn't over
Unfucking believable that they are stupid enough to leave voice messages. Oh, who am I kidding? Of course they are that dumb. They let huge corporations exploit them all the time, now to the point of risking prison protecting corporate interests.

The FBI will be doing it's part to create jobs pretty damned soon just to keep up with the volume of winger incitements and threats. Beginning to see cheney's wisdom in sending so much of the National Guard on a pointless war abroad.

what their rhetoric is doing, they can watch it on the news. They have to know their fans are unstable,So what will they say when someone gets killed? It's obvious they want someone to harm the president,or at least some democrats.Isn't inciting a riot a crime. This is way past out of hand.
