Religious Right Watch: Health Care Reform is Against God's Design.
And here we thought the Founding Fathers created our country -- now we find out it was created directly by God, and without healthcare reform. ;-)

From The Minnesota Independent:
The religious right is ramping up its campaign against health care reform, even joining with the “tea party” movement to encourage conservative Christians to swamp town hall meetings. Minnesota’s religious right leaders say that the health care reform package is against God’s plan for health care and that Christians should go to community forums and “read them the riot act.”

“Some may ask what does God have to do with our health care system,” wrote Minnesota Family Council president Tom Prichard. “For one, He’s created the government as an institution in society to do certain things. When we reject His design for government, in a sense, we’re rejecting Him.”

Prichard continues, “In Obama’s worldview, our trust is in government not in God. A denial of how God designed and created our economic and social systems to actually work in the real world. The result? The abysmal failure of government control of health care in socialist models. From the USSR which takeover everything, including health care, to our neighbors to the north, Canada and European countries such as the UK where rationing and massive waiting periods are the order of the day.”

34. Yep. There's are reason why the First Commandment IS the FIRST Commandment.
Blasphemy, equating one's own understanding/apprehension with the perfection of God's, and thus worshipping your own mind, IS the most dangerous sin.

2. My grandpa's name was "Pritchard"
with the 't'. He once told me that, back in Scotland, one branch of the family stole goats. The goat thieves had to take the 't' out of their name.

Of course, the T-less Prichards say that we had to put a 't' in...

He needs to go back and actually READ his bible instead of thumping it.

17. If only there really WAS a judgement day coming!
These scumbags clearly don't care what Jesus said. They don't really believe it themselves or they wouldn't dare turn against His teachings.

Show me a preacher and I'll show you the Devil.

11. Sure -- and that's the sum total of the GOP health reform plan.
Of course, they don't note that the Bible encouraged others to also do so.

He refused to heal the daughter of the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15, saying to do so would be like casting food for one's children to the dogs. Jesus says in these verses that he only heals people with the pre-existing condition of being Jewish.

Of course, once the woman grovelled at his feet, he changed his mind. Must pay the debt of servitude or Jeebus ain't gonna do diddley squat.

Nice guy, that Jeebus.

42. Um. He healed the child in the story.
Many people, those who read the Bible as Scripture or as fairy tale, make the mistake of not learning the context of the times. The modalities of teaching, and of humor, are important to grasping any literature from another era. Confusing jokes and hyperbole with seriously stated phrases is a huge problem.
The funniest thing to the crowds then was exaggeration. He taught constantly against the form of prejudice you ascribe to him. So of course, he was playing the prejudice of the crowd to instruct the crowd. The parable of the Good Samaritan teaches that the most honored of the majority are often uncaring and heartless, while the most despised minority will do the good those of the 'right religion' refuse to do. His teaching in short was that the most pious Jews were less Godly than the average Samaritan, the Samaritans being the lowest of the minorities in the region.
By the way, Colbert is not a real conservative, although he often speaks as if he were one. Shakespeare did not really want all the lawyers killed. Swift did not really want to cannibalize the Irish children either.

Edited on Fri Aug-07-09 04:17 PM by backscatter712
Yesterday while I was at the Stout Street Clinic event in Denver where Jared Polis, Diana DeGette and Nancy Pelosi were having their press conference and photo-op, I told one of the bible-thumpers there that Jesus was the liberal hippy of his day who fed the poor, healed the sick, and hung out with prostitutes, lepers and (GASP) tax collectors.

DAMN, that made him go completely apeshit!

29. So then we should never have revolted against England?
“Some may ask what does God have to do with our health care system,” wrote Minnesota Family Council president Tom Prichard. “For one, He’s created the government as an institution in society to do certain things. When we reject His design for government, in a sense, we’re rejecting Him.”

That is such a bullshit idea!! Given that wonderful logic, we should still be under the originally "God
created" system of government. Didn't the monarchs believe the they ruled by divine mandate? I mean if it was designed by God then how could we have the gall to fight against it? Ridiculous. The "religious" right are just suckers waiting to be lied to by big business. They are too stupid to see that they are constantly being led to vote against their self interests and the interests of a truly Christian society where the needs of the great and the small are taken care of.

and to add my own:

Anyone who would claim to speak for God, doesn't fear (or believe in) God.

If this guy is suddenly "struck down", would any REAL Christian wonder why?
