White House warns Limbaugh Nazi Talk puts him on Thin Ice
The White House struck back hard on Friday against conservative pundits and town hall protesters who have compared the President to Hitler and his policies to Nazism, saying that the critics are "on thin ice" and should "take that temperature down a bit."

Asked about the breakout of boisterous and occasionally violent protests at Democratic town hall events throughout the country, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs declared that the demonstrators were showing less civility and manners than his six-year-old daughter.

"Behave yourselves like your mom would probably tell you to do," Gibbs said when asked what piece of advice he would give to the demonstrators.

But it wasn't all fun and games for the Obama spokesman. Pressed on the analogies between Obama and Hitler that conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh made during Thursday's program, Gibbs' voice turned stern.

"I know the president feels strongly that we can discuss these issues without personally maligning... that we are doing so in a way that respects the dignity of each individual," he said. "I think anytime you make references to what happened in Germany in the 30's and 40's, I think you are talking about an event that has no equivalent. And I think anytime anyone ventures to compare anything to that, they are on thin ice, and it is best not employed."

5. Excuse me darling but I did look at it and I happen to have read the article earlier today.
And in now way did the article single out Rush. He's an ass but he's not alone.

I haven't found the article that defines you as God yet but maybe you'll contact HuffPoo and let them know.

His Headline is "White House Warns Rush: Nazi Talk Puts You on Thin Ice."

IMHO you are nitpicking! I posted what Huffington Post put as their headline except I changed Rush to Limbaugh.

6. They should be a little cautious
Obama is the president! They could wind up being classified as home-grown terrorists and face some pretty unpleasant consequences.

16. No it is not sarcasm at all (although perhaps poorly stated)
The Secret Service takes a dim view of people who cross the line into violent behavior and they are talking about the president.

22. The Secret Service gets involved when someone issues a death threat against the president.
Or displays threatening behavior against the president. They don't get involved when someone simply compares the president to Adolf Hitler or advocates violence at town hall meetings. With the latter, that is a local law enforcement problem in most cases, not a federal and certainly not a Secret Service issue. If it was a federal issue, the FCC would get involved as far as Rush Limbaugh goes.

13. Here's Gibbs exchange on this
Q And just one follow up to Ben's question, just on the town hall meeting. This week there's just been an amplification in terms of the rhetoric. Some of the protestors against the President's position on health care reform have used Nazi imagery, a Democratic congressman said that the protestors were using Brown Shirt tactics; a Democratic senator called the protestors behavior un-American, although she retracted it; Rush Limbaugh went on a very long speech yesterday during his radio show in which he compared Democrats to Nazis and the President to Hitler. And I'm wondering if the President has seen any of this and has a take on it? Obviously the Nazi imagery has been condemned by Jewish groups, but I'm wondering if he feels anything about language being used this way?

MR. GIBBS: Well, I think he's certainly seen news reports about this. I don't know whether it's written or cable. I'd make a couple of points. I'll build on what I said to Ben, which is regardless of where we are, regardless of the differences we have on even an issue as important as health care, I know the President believes strongly that we can discuss these issues without personally maligning the person that we're discussing this issue with, that we're doing so in a way that respects the dignity of each individual.

I think -- I think any time you make references to what happened in Germany in the '30s and '40s, I think you're talking about an event that has no equivalent. And I think any time anyone ventures to compare anything to that, they're on thin ice and it's best not deployed.

Maybe Stein's headline was a bit off - but IMHO not much. Gibbs was going after all who use Nazi imagery but Rush certaininly has the biggest megaphone in this.

15. How can Obama be like Hitler when Hitler wrote this in Mein Kampf?:
excerpts of Mein Kampf from http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Holocaust/kampf.html

snip<With satanic joy in his face, the black-haired Jewish youth lurks in wait for the unsuspecting girl whom he defiles with his blood, thus stealing her from her people. With every means he tries to destroy the racial foundations of the people he has set out to subjugate. Just as he himself systematically ruins women and girls, he does not shrink back from pulling down the blood barriers for others, even on a large scale. It was and it is Jews who bring the Negroes into the Rhineland, always with the same secret thought and clear aim of ruining the hated white race by the necessarily resulting bastardization, throwing it down from its cultural and political height, and himself rising to be its master.>snip

from a question posed on Wikianswers, "Why did Hitler hate Black People?"http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_did_Hitler_hate_black_people

snip<According to J. A. Rogers, Adolph Hitler declares in Mein Kampf Negroes are "half-apes." ......There were from 20,000 to 24,000 Africans in German from 1933-1945. Many of these Africans married German women and sired half African and half German children. They were called "Rhineland Bastards," others sired what they called "Illegitimate children," with German women, also called Rhineland Bastards. Many of these Africans sufferer the same fate as the Jews did during the Holocaust....For more information, there is a book titled "German's Black Holocaust, by Firpo W. Carr, Ph.D.

...The sterilization programs of Blacks were instituted by Germany's most senior Nazi geneticist, Doctor Eugen Fischer, who developed his racial theories in German South West Africa (now Namibia) long before World War I. In Namibia, Fischer claimed there were genetic dangers arising from race mixing between German colonists and African women.

... Under the terms of the peace treaty signed at Versailles, Germany was stripped of its African colonies and forced to submit to the occupation of the Rhineland. The deployment of African troops from the French colonies to police the territory incensed many Germans. ...Germans complained bitterly in newspapers and propaganda films about African soldiers from the French colonial army having relations with their women. As soon as Hitler reoccupied the Rhineland in 1936, he retaliated by targeting black people living there. At least 400 mixed-race children were forcibly sterilized in the area by the end of 1937, while 400 others disappeared into camps. >snip

Rush, you disgusting drug-addicted lazy SLOB - OBAMA CANNOT BE LIKE HITLER!

It is not supposed to be political in it's programming. If the DOD won't obey the Hatch Act, the CIC needs to make a couple of short, terse phone calls, IMO

Edited on Fri Aug-07-09 06:48 PM by LittleClarkie
It's almost like people seek to borrow the horror of that time for their own uses. It's over used, certainly.

Meanwhile, I can't even begin to understand the hyperbole. These people don't know what living in a true dictatorship is really like. Stalinist? Nazi? Are massive numbers of people being killed that I don't know about? Are there death camps for Conservatives somewhere?

20. I agree with your Jewish friend
The hypocrisy in this case is the RW and the Repugs. Remember how they screamed bloody murder and demanded Democrats in Congress refute MoveOn.org when they let slip through in their video ad contest a video that made some comparison of Bush to Hitler?

But right now from Republicans all we hear is crickets.
