Remind me again - why am I supposed to like Lawrence O'donnell?
On the Ed show today he's doing his best Health Care doom and gloom routine.

1. Because that is how the whole media machine is selling it
Where are the Democrats in Congress selling the idea, instead of allowing mistruths to be propogated?

2. He sucked tonight. Sometimes he is great. Sometimes he is like he was tonight.

3. Can't figure it out yet.
He said something right a few times,
and folks got excited.

It's hard not to get excited
when someone in the media speaks the truth....
although they may not be consistent about it.

That is the case with O'donnell. He read his reviews about himself on the blogs,
and got a bit too confident about what he's about.

4. He's being moody
I get swept up in the doom and gloom too at times. It's been our experience that these rabble rousing Republican tactics have succeed in the past. Remember the hanging chad brigade. It's easy to give in to the pessimism that we'll have a health care bill snatched from our grasp by a bunch of crazy coots hepped up on fear driven adrenalin. These are true believers out there....Crazy as all get out but I don't dismiss their ability to whip this up into a whacked out mob scene for a minute. It could get very ugly.

5. I think Lawrence is lobbying hard for a slot
because let's face it Ed ain't gonna last-he's TOO partisan...he's almost Fox-ish from the opposite side really. I don't think MSNBC wants to be Fox...LO will get his own show-as long as he shows the bosses he can be objective. That's how I've been scoring it lately.

7. Sometimes he's great and other times he just goes through the motions...
I like him well enough, but he's not Ed.

9. He's a realist and has experience in real world politics
He was on Hardball sometime well before the election and basically said that health reform would never happen.
He seemed confidant and in the know. I remember thinking at the time "I hope he is wrong"
