McCain says the Democrats are being reckless on Iraq
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2007/04/11/politics/p060634D41.DTL&type=politics

Republican presidential contender John McCain said Wednesday the four-year war in Iraq is "necessary and just" and accused anti-war Democrats of being reckless.

McCain, struggling to reinvigorate his troubled presidential campaign, also criticized President Bush for initially going to war without a plan to succeed. But the decorated war hero staunchly backed the commander in chief's recent troop increase and said Bush is right to veto legislation that places conditions on the war

"In Iraq, only our enemies were cheering" when House Democrats enthusiastically passed legislation setting a timetable for a troop withdrawal, the Arizona Republican said in prepared remarks of a speech meant to reinvigorate his troubled presidential campaign. snip

The latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll showed that a majority of Americans say going to war in Iraq was a mistake and half call it a hopeless cause. But among Republicans, roughly three in four say the United States made the right decision in going to war and call the cause worthy.

2. Republican arrogance prevents admission of ANY mistakes.
It would not matter how bad thing get in Iraq or that there were no WMDs and no connection to 9/11. The absolute arrogance of those assholes would never allow admission of a mistake.

on there McCain, it's them Dem's that keep sending the troops into battle without adequate armor, proper training and on multiple deployments, have lowered the standards to meet recruitment goals and have justified regime change, invasion and occupation of Iraq with lies.:sarcasm: :sarcasm: McCain needs a big cup of STFU!!!

7. What's reckless is getting into a war without a plan and when you're completely unprepared
and having a bunch of people get killed for no real reason.

8. Observations/Questions
1.)Does McCain KNOW that "our enemies were cheering" because of the timetables and if so, HOW does he know this and more importantly, WHY should it matter what our enemies think? Bush, Cheney, McCain, et. al seem obsessed with how "our enemies" view us and our actions. Why is this? They are not suggesting that we formulate our policies around what (we think) "our enemies" want or don't want, are they?
2.)I don't know what other people think but I personally think that McCain, Graham, and Pence were themselves VERY reckless by publicizing a (heavily armed and escorted) trip to a local marketplace supposedly to demonstrate how "safe" Baghdad is becoming(?) as a result of Bush's "surge" policy. By publicizing the trip in the manner in which they did it not only did they look stupid (which doesn't really bother me) but they may well have helped provoke, albeit unintentionally, the devastating attack on the same marketplace the following day. Also, Pence's comments ("misstatements") suggest that he has become VERY out of touch with his home state if he thinks that the Baghdad marketplace he visited is in any way comparable to one here in Indiana. I've never heard of anybody here in Indiana needing bulletproof vests and a full military escort to protect them while trying to get to and from a marketplace. If this is happening then it is very well covered up.
:wtf:

13. The one realm that they allow any other side to influence discussion
Nowhere else do they not frame the debate and decide what is to be the topic and how (the black/white alternatives) it will be resolved.

Interesting that they would let the enemy in the war on terror have the upper hand like this.

In "The One Percent Doctrine" Suskind points out how shocked the intelligence community and the FBI were to hear the "Fight them there so we don't fight them here" because to any slightly informed ear that was admitting that they knew that they couldn't defend the whole country.

11. Yeah...because the Democrats endangered 100 troops
just to walk in an Iraqi market for a photo op...And the troops will be in assloads of danger when they're home with their families, away from mortar attacks, suicide bombs and IEDs!
