What happened to CNN's outrage over Glenn Beck"s racist remarks
Edited on Wed Apr-11-07 12:54 PM by Roxy66
towards the new Senator that is of Middle Eastern decent, Kieth Ellison? I think this is good someone is finally paying for vile remarks based on rasism, denagrding women, and homophobia. But, all these hypocrites that are covering this need to look at their own people and put the brakes on this hate speech!!!

1. Selective outrage, certainly.
I imagine CNN is quite pleased to be hammering Imus, as he was gaining/overtaking their morning show. Their outrage is directly proportional to their business interests, IMHO.

2. CNN's outrage? When was CNN ever outraged?
CNN hired Beck specifically because he was a racist, and would generate ratings.

3. Keith Ellison is the Congressman
I don't remember CNN being outraged over the remarks. They probably liked the attention.

10. Oops, I must be dense today
I agree about Beck. It bothers me more to have him on than any of the hate mongers on Fox because CNN supposedly portrays themselves as being "reputable." Beck has no place on a major news channel.

4. The produce who hired Glenn Beck quit CNN and went to Fox News.
That should tell you a bit about the "outrage" that CNN expressed over Beck's remarks to Rep. Keith Ellison.
CNN loved the hiring of Beck because they've always been branded with the label "Clinton News Network" by the right-wing and see the
vast unthinking audiences that watch Fox News (and actually believe the "reporting" they do) as untapped revenue.
Thus, CNN has been taking a hard right tack for years now.
But they still can't shake the "liberal media" label no matter how hard they try.
Maybe if they hired David Duke...

11. Sometimes there IS such a thing as
baby steps....and "one brick at a time," and "just another brick in the wall." All racism is bad, but we can't eliminate it all in one fell-swoop, as much as we would like to. We are all enablers. How many of us watch CNN even tho it supports the Glen Beck show? How many of us watch MSNBC even tho it broadcast Imus? How many of us adhered to a strict boycott of the sponsors of these programs, or other hate-filled radio/TV programs.

We made Ann Coulter sit up and pay attention....Imus must now do the same.

One brick at a time.
