2007: Conservatives defend "death panel" that rejected treatment for teen girl
Oh right, but it wasn't a government panel, but a private panel. So it really isn't right to call it a "death panel". I think we should call it a "Free Market Life-Or-Not-Life Decision Group".

"The family of a California teenager who died awaiting a liver transplant said they would sue the insurer whom they blame for their daughter's death."

Here are some choice quotes.

"Sad story, but there is no law suit here."

"Does it make sense to use a healthy organ in a body riddled with leukemia when there are better prospects awaiting transplants?"
(So should an insurance company refuse to treat Trig Palin because there might be better prospects available)

"I don’t see the right to sue the insurance agency. The problem is lawyers have so screwed up the system by suing everyone and everything, legit cases are hurt."
(Real interesting considering that medical malpractice suits make up less than 1% of medical costs)

"Sometimes stuff happens and people die."
(OK, Democrats aren't involved? OK, let's just move on then, nothing interesting here.)

"The insurance company did not deny treatment. They denied coverage."
(They didn't deny treatment, they denied COVERAGE. That makes it OK.)
