Daily Kos: Who is William Kostric? (The gun-toter at Obama Town Hall)
-----

Then I find him making this comment in response to a drug raid gone bad:

William Kostric | April 17, 2008, 11:52pm | #
It looks the cops ran into the first amendment while violating the fourth. That's the way it's supposed to work.

If people can't wake up and see why it's immoral to trespass and destroy someones property, kidnap and lock them in a cage for growing a plant in their backyard then perhaps a body count is what's required for change.

I personally feel zero sympathy for those cops. I reserve my sympathy for the victims of the nonsense they initiate.

Turns out he was also very active in Arizona as a Team Member of We the People Organization. He's listed on their website, Give Me Liberty, as a Team Member of their Continental Congress '09 group. He's listed as living in Maricopa County. Obviously, this site is out of date.

The appeal of 'Live free or die'
Antigovernment activists putting down roots in N.H.

The Free Staters, as they are known, hope to lure thousands of like-minded souls to the state, with the goal of paring government to a bare minimum by eliminating things like taxes, speed limits, and zoning laws.

Thus far, just 427 Free Staters have relocated. Yet, here in Keene and in pockets across New Hampshire, Free Staters are making their case in increasingly provocative ways.

-----

The so-called liberty actions have been met with some bemusement by residents of this gently tolerant city, population 22,800, home to Keene State College, near the border of Vermont. But some say the tactics have taken on a menacing hue, such as when Free Staters have gathered on the streets of downtown Keene with holstered guns on their waists, visible on their waists.

"When they first came to town, there was a welcoming spirit. A lot of people were like, 'OK,' " said Richard Van Wickler, a Keene resident and superintendent of the Cheshire County Department of Corrections. "But unfortunately what happens is that when (Free Staters) take the radical approach, that invites people to get angry."

3. These people are sad. Protesting getting pulled over for a speeding ticket
by not giving your identification and then you are a hero?
Jefferson did not think we needed no laws, he just did not want the govt. to infringe on people's liberty while at the same time people should not infringe on other's freedoms. Speeding infringes on my freedom to drive down the road with my little kids safely. Duh. These people need a good kick in the pants. Big corporations take away our rights more then govt. ever will.
I know some mean liberal bikers who come out during bike week in NH. They need a good scare.

5. Hey they hate parking meters
Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 01:02 AM by RamboLiberal
So they go around putting nickels in expired meters leaving a note on the car about themselves. They call it the Robin Hood Fund.

Locals calling themselves modern-day Robin Hoods are taking to the streets of Keene to save drivers from city parking fines.

White envelopes from the Robin Hood Parking Meter Fund began appearing on vehicle windshields in mid-February.

An accompanying note reads:

“Dear Motorist, You have crossed paths with Robin Hood. Your parking meter ran out of time, but my merry men remedied the situation with additional coins. May your future travels be uninterrupted by the Crown of Keene and his many sheriffs.”

Internet postings indicate that members of the Free State movement are behind the effort to save drivers from potential parking fines.

8. Geez, they are idiots.
My husband got a ticket in Lincoln, NH when we were on vacation there early this summer but we accepted it and moved on because he WAS doing a 55 in a 25 mile an hour zone (he pulled out way to fast from the hotel and I yelled at him later, LOL). We go up every summer, I hope they don't become a nuisance and ruin our good times up there as all the people we have come in contact with over the years there have been great. My husband's Dad lives there and is a total conservative but not a libertarian nut so we can somewhat tolerate him.

6. The Free State Project
The Free State Project (FSP) is an Internet-based political movement, founded in 2001, to get at least 20,000 libertarian-leaning people to move to New Hampshire in order to make the state a stronghold for libertarian ideals.

Those who join the Free State Project sign a statement of intent to move to New Hampshire within five years of the group reaching 20,000 members. However, many FSP members choose to simply move to New Hampshire as soon as they can, rather than wait for the goal of 20,000 members to be reached. Those who move to New Hampshire in advance of the FSP reaching 20,000 members are referred to as "early movers".

As of August 8, 2009, there are 9,546 members, of which 734 have already moved to New Hampshire.<1> The movement achieved a victory in 2006 when one of its members, Joel Winters, was elected to the New Hampshire General Court. Winters ran as a Democrat.<2> In 2008, six Free Staters were elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives, including Winters, according to group members.<3>

Several project members also belong to the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance.

7. Their plan is to turn America into Somalia.
That's their ideal of government. They just haven't realized it.

10. Gun-Nut Outside Obama Townhall Linked to GOP 'Stop ObamaCare' Effort
Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 09:53 AM by RamboLiberal
At the bottom of Kostric's sign, viewers were informed that the message was "brought to you by restoretherepublic.org."

Visit the site of Restore the Republic, and you will find a wealth of information on some of the far right's favorite conspiracy theories: the Bilderberg conspiracy, the Tri-Lateral Commission, the New World Order and "FEMA internment camps." The site is a draw for anti-government gun enthusiasts and survivalists.

While Kostric and his "freedom movement" compatriots hover at the fringe of America society, they are not without usefulness to the Republican Party.

On Monday, I reported on the organizing of town-hall protesters done by Grassfire and its sibling site, ResistNet. Grassfire is represented by Shirley & Banister Public Affairs, a public-relations firm that represents mainstream Republican figures, according to the firm's Web site. Clients include Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan and Weekly Standard editor William Kristol. Grassfire, a new-media nonprofit organization, is endorsed by Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., who famously announced his intention to "break" Obama by making health-care reform "his Waterloo."

A search on the ResistNet social networking site yielded 29 pages of comments containing links to Restore the Republic.
