If the Democrats were going to pull the plug on grandma
they would have done it already. They've been "the decider" on whether granny lives or dies for something like 40-50 years now. And with the exception of Palin's Alaska and GWB's Texas "medical futility law", I don't recall tripping over a bunch of dead grannies - do you?

Socialized medicine works so well that grannies are living longer than ever before.

2. Here is the thing, going into the midterms, and next Presidential
No matter what happens with health care bill, the right will try to use the lies about it to win seats.

So the Democrats have to get a bill that people will actually see is good.

So when it passes with a public option, and the world does not end, even with insurance companies raising prices to blame the government. People will be able to see there is an option that is cheaper and being ran with lower overhead, without the higher taxes.

If the Democrats give into corporate interest, what ever they do pass will be blamed for the insurance industry raising prices to get them out of office.

And guess what, who wins the election is not what is at stake, it is the future of how America will treat its people.

I think most people in Congress get it, you can tell even many people in media get it. So it does not seem to be a problem if people do what is best for everyone.

And if someone thinks the private sector can negotiate by giving something away but maintaining monopoly control, they are in a different world.

3. i totally agree. the republicans are going to do what they are going to do.
and the dems pussy footing around and trying to appease the republicans hoping that htey will not be mean to them hasn't worked in the past... and WON'T work now. They need to quit worrying about elections and do their damned job. If they do their job, then I have no doubt they will get re-elected. Because no matter how much air time these loons at the meetings are getting, they are not the majority... most people want healthcare reform. And just the fact that they are doing SOMETHING will mean a lot to folks.
