I wonder if POTUS was notified about the guy with the gun and decided to
diffuse the myth that "Obama was going to take your guns" - the President can certainly point to this instance as a perfect rebuttal to that one.

6. We're a stupid, stupid country.
http://englishplus.com/news/news0102.htm

"Defuse is simply the word fuse plus the prefix de-. It literally means "to remove a fuse," just like declaw means "to remove the claws." It is often used figuratively in the sense of resolving a conflict or easing a difficult situation. It may be used in politics or diplomacy in this figurative way, so you do come across it in the news from time to time.

Diffuse as the adjective means either "wordy" or "spread out." As a verb it means "to pour or spread out." If a diplomat is "diffusing a difficult situation," he is stirring it up or spreading it out. That is rarely what diplomats are instructed to do. It would not be very diplomatic!"

Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 02:43 PM by SIMPLYB1980
saying that Obama was going to let the UN take away the gun rights of American citizens and asked me how I felt about that. I told them they were fucking crazy and hung up on them.

5. Hmm here is some information to share
they assessed the threat, and realized that the threat was minimal

They didn't have to tell package, just change some of the routine if at all.

They decided against removal for political reasons since this guy did not pose a threat.

They did not take the bait, why this guy showed up totting a weapon, he wanted to get arrested.

Now they are most likely more concerned about the idiot with the concealed weapon than this boy carrying openly and making a political point.

Now care to guess how many cops were on him? Care to guess how many snipers? Want to guess what would have happened if this POTENTIAL threat even entered the realm of possible?

Dynamic threat assessment for the SS includes the political as well.

7. I think it is precisely what the mindset was
You know full well the President was advised of the situation before he took the stage (television was showing the guy with his gun a half hour before Obama arrived - his presense was common knowledge) and purposfully decided to go froward and of couse it was his decision to make sure the guy was left alone. You can also bet that the guy with the gun would have gone down in a hailstorm of bullets had he so much as twitched in the direction of that teeney little pistol.

A point has been made - two points actually. Obama is not taking anyone's guns away from them and he is not afraid of confrontation either.
