5. I've never been asked that on a job app.
And I'd be mightily pissed off if I was. Maybe Focus on the Family asks it.

7. I don't think employers ask about religious preference
It might be illegal.

8. It *is* illegal
and I've never been asked it, come to think of it. I think my first reaction was a little kneejerk - I've had jobs where I was out and nobody cared. On the other hand, I've had jobs where I sincerely believe that being out would have lost me the job, one way or the other.

11. Is the term "religious preference" standard terminology?
Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 06:14 PM by Boojatta
It's pretty funny. "Let me think out loud for a moment. My deceased husband was a Baptist, and I'm a Baptist, so I have a preference for a cross on his tombstone, but if you're out of stock at the moment, then I suppose that an Islamic tombstone at a discounted price will be okay."

10. Oh please... that isn't a fashionable kind of diversity.
The only respectable religious identities in the US are Christian, and to a somewhat lesser extent Jewish.
