Kaiser Permanente To Cut 1,850 California Jobs
Last week they announced a 75% increase in second quarter profits (to $620 million).

Does not compute.....

1. Oh hell yeah, it computes. Kaiser, the beginning of "managed health care" sees the writing
on the wall. For-profit healthcare in California, just ain't what is used to be. If I were a nefarious, blood-sucking, for-profit healthcare* organization, I would be banking as much cash as I possibly could.

A backlash is coming.

3. Kaiser killed my best friend
The small cancerous growth on his tongue was, on three separate occasions, deemed unworthy of the expense of surgical removal. It only became "worth it" once it had spread to his throat. Killed him three months later. R.I.P. Randy A.

4. One thing that people should know is
that announced layoffs don't always equal actual layoffs.

But in the case of the healthcare insurance industry, I would be happy to see all these people become civil servants.

Also, at some point we are just going to have to house and feed people, regardless of whether they can prove their worth to the for profit economy. But I will get shouted down on this very soon, as always.
