Thousands upon thousands of people descended upon Washington D.C. today, spreading the word that we will not tolerate this war and the profiteers who are behind it. The media downplayed it, but, rest assured, the people on the hill know exactly how many people there were. They know that we're sick of being lied to, patted on the head, and told not to worry about it.
Men, women, and children continue to die--men, women, and children who might well have lived long, comfortable lives if not for the vengeful spirit of a man allegedly elected to lead this country into a new century.
We are SO sick of war! Sick of death. Sick of disease. Sick of profiteering at our expense! Sick of the rich and powerful, the corporate monsters sucking us dry! And we refuse to stand idly by while the monsters continue to grind us underfoot.
There's a line I consider particularly fitting in cases like these. "We will be a thorn to his foot, and a bramble to his hand."
They treated us as if we were but a nuisance, hardly an obstacle to their plans. But we, the people, have proved to be more difficult to manage than they expected. They controlled most of the media, they told us what they wanted us to hear, yet, somehow, we still stood up and said "enough!"
Some people let fear and despair beat them down, but there are those of us who never will. And, even against the worst odds that exist, we will continue to fight, with words, song, and directed will, against those who would drive us into dust.
We will misbehave.
And if they don't like it...
Tough shit.
