Boy, 7, still in coma

Seven-year-old Ethan Hann is in critical condition and a medically induced coma. He was hit by a van Wednesday afternoon. He is hooked up to a ventilator and now has pneumonia.
He does not have insurance.
His family is seeking help with bills sure to be monstrous. Those who wish to help can donate to the Ethan Hann Medical Expense Account at any First National Bank.
Ethan was hit by a green Oldsmobile Silhouette van Wednesday near 30th Avenue and Pacific Street after he rode down a driveway and darted between parked cars onto 30th.
His parents heard that he was in a race with another child who lives nearby. “He won,” his father, Jeff Hann, said ruefully on Thursday at Creighton University Medical Center.
Police initially believed Ethan would be fine. But hospital staff found a closed head wound and put the boy into a medically induced coma. He is on life support. His parents have not been able to speak to him.
He was not wearing a helmet.
“He hasn't been totally conscious since the accident,” said Hann, 43.
The van's driver stopped immediately. Police later cited him on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.
