If you were going to ask one question of your knuckle-dragging "congressman" next week

I am more than happy to play devil's advocate. :D

1. Is my congressman a Democrat or Republican
Well, I know who my Congressman is, but my questioning would change entirely depending on who I was talking to.

6. My Congressman currently is Pete Sessions, one of only 59 who voted to cut Medicare reimbursements
I don't know what I would ask him that would be worth my time.

5. I'd ask him what he'd do if Democrats controlled both Houses and the White House
Edited on Sat Aug-15-09 01:47 AM by charlie
I'd tell him to go wild and imagine the possibilities if that magical day ever arrived.

Then I'd go home and punch a wall.

Edit: Ah, YOURS, not mine. I'll just punch that wall, anyway.

7. How many Americans do you think should die because they
can't afford insurance . . .or, with their insurance, cannot afford to get medical attention? How many epidemic illnesses are you willing to risk reaching the entire population because 45 million Americans do not have insurance and may not seek medical treatment?

Is it true that the Republican plan for health care reform includes forcing all Americans to join the 700 Club or seek Benny Hinn?

9. Might my "congressman" be a she? Either way, I'd ask one of the following questions:
Edited on Sat Aug-15-09 02:59 AM by cherokeeprogressive
"Are you willing to account for every single penny that has been donated to your re-election campaign, and if not, why not?"

"What are your travel plans for the next six weeks, who will accompany you, and would you please include the names of every person on the trip including "advisors" and family members?" After the trip is concluded?"

"How long do you plan to be a "congressman", and what are your aspirations beyond that?"

"When was the last time you said something to your constituents on the record without being 100% sure about its truthfulness?"

"Would you say something on the record to the press or to a constituent that you thought might be less than honest or otherwise open to different interpretation depending on the ideology of the listener in order to further your party's agenda?"

"Will your answers to questions always be your own, and extemporaneous in nature or are there instances or circumstances where you would answer a question with words that were suggested to you by someone else, and if so, what might those circumstances be?"

"Do you believe that your party's stance on issues is ALWAYS right?"

"When did you stop cheating on your spouse?"

"Are you willing to release to the general public all of the emails either sent from your official email address or recieved at same?"
---------

ETA that I'm represented by a repug whose name is Jerry Lewis (NGACK NGACK NGACK!).

11. I know what I would ask.........
this statement is from mine....

Oklahoma's Repub John Sullivan combined both birther and health care paranoia telling a crowd, "This is a scary time in Washington. It's a very frightening time. I see Barack Obama is creating an enemies list of people who oppose this miserable health care plan. I think that's frightening. That's from a guy that can't even show a long-form birth certificate. I think we all ought to be prepared to fight that."

I would ask how Obama's birth certificate relates to a debate about health care. Then I would ask, does he believe that Hawaii is a part of the US. I'd keep my fingers crossed hoping he says yes!!

And finally, I'd ask, aren't you a little old to still believe in fairy tales? Do you still believe in the easter bunny and Santa Claus too?

12. Please tell me how it is moral for health care industries
To profit from the suffering of others, whether that means withholding care, or providing care?

13. I asked mine (well, his office person)
(blue dog) how he voted on the HC bill. He said he voted "no" because he was waiting for the CBO reports. I asked him, "well, now that they're out, which way will the congressman be voting?" He said they weren't out yet. I told him I had read them (granted, they are estimates), so they are out, and I encouraged him to read them for himself, instead of listening to Republican lies about the cost -- since the MSM has been repeating the outrageous "rounding up" by 100% of the GOP. He didn't know what to say then. To be fair, this guy said he wasn't a legislative aide, so he didn't read bills, etc.

I had also read up on his campaign contributions and told him that I knew he was funded by health insurance companies and I hoped he wasn't going to forget that he represents the PEOPLE, not the corporations who fund him. After he got done denying that this is where the congressman's money came from (I had to correct him), he didn't have a lot to say.

I then reminded him that Obama was elected by a landslide and that before Bush ruined our economy, one of Obama's biggest platforms was Healthcare reform, and that many people supported him because of it. If he wants to get re-elected, he would be wise to remember that.

If I had it to do over, I'd have brought a list of all of the agencies supporting healthcare reform and left that with him.

Not sure it did any good, but it felt good to say something.

14. We have two knuckle dragger's functioning under the Democrat label.
One of them, Kent Conrad (Dem-Royal Blue) is advocating co-ops, which is nothing more than another way for the health Insurance companies to make money off us.

15. I don't have a knuckle-dragging congresswoman.
I've got Nita Loewy, and I'm proud to have her.

I think the OP is an insult to the Democratic party and to our Congress. Disgusting.

"Considering you have the best free health care my money can buy you, how do you justify making decisions on my health care and not considering that I deserve the same care as you?"
