How about a referendum?
If there is not going to be "real reform" in the healthcare reform now being debated and shouted about, why not just make it a political issue in the next election, with the promise that if the people vote for the Democrats, there will be a single-payer system created for this country. All the voters will know up front what they are voting for, unlike the last election. Some folks seem to be confused about what the voters wanted? Let's debate it thru the next election and let's have a referendum on a single payer system. What say you?

1. No Provision In The Constitution
Good idea, but there is no provision in the Constitution for a referendum. There ought to be. We would have to add another amendment that would make a referendum possible.

3. It will be
and if the Democrats wimp out, they'll be the minority party in at least one house of Congress.

4. Unfortunately true...
Not because of a flood of Republican voters, but because a lot of Democratic voters will sit out the next election. If that happens, the Repubs take back the House and there will be nothing but gridlock for the remainder of Barack Obama's Presidency.
