We need to change the debate.

The screamers and townhall people have controlled the message for the last couple of weeks. They are angry and emotional. Most are pissed off Republicans that can't get over Barack Obama winning the last election. Most are being used by those working undercover for the big insurance companies. They are not a spontaneous grassroots happening. They are being exploited. And the media is the reason they are able to get on TV and get heard.

They are ignorant and irrational. They don't operate on the facts about health insurance. They spew out crap about socialism, their Grandmas dying, and other lies. They are confused and they need to respect other people's opinions and stop their shouting over everyone else. They were told to do that by certain folks in the Republican hierarchy. They can't handle the truth.

And we have to tell the truth about them. We can no longer permit them to shout over everyone else. We cannot permit them to bring guns to events where the President is speaking. We will not accept their threats and bullying. They must act in a more civilized manner or they will be called on it. They look stupid and they will be defined as such. The tone of the debate needs to change. It is up to us to change it.

along with the AARP TV ads supporting health care reform the tide may begin to turn.


I think all of this was political theater anyways. We don't have the Senate Appropriations Bill yet and that may be the one that matters.

And you're doing it right now. You may think you're preaching to the choir but you aren't. For every active DU member there could well be thousands of lurkers. Have you ever watched the far right column on the GD or the GDP pages where is shows how many people have clicked on the thread? Only a tiny fraction actually leave a comment or sign up as members. The lurkers are coming here to get their news and political back stories and information among other things.

I did it for years before I finally signed up to join in the dialogs.

It's sites like this one that keep the truth and the facts out there. Without the collective internet us, as in we the people, the MSM would have us all fooled no matter how smart we are. And if not fooled, they'd still be keeping us ignorant of the truth.

And we will continue to call them out when they think they can shout over everyone and intimidate people with their bullying tactics. We cannot permit that to happen. it has gone on for too long already.
