why is the question do you want to raise taxes to have universal health care? They didn't raise them for their war. Why can't that money be used for the people instead of the politicians
Why is it they always frame things that are good for the people as - do you want to raise taxes? but when it is for them or to give to other places - they just do it
They don't say they are going to raise taxes when they give themselves $35,000/year in raises for the last 12 years - they just do it.
They give themselves a state of the art health club and trips and all kinds of extras and they only work less than half a year

They are unwilling to give the working man and women a raise -
Damn I want them to work for minimum wage for years and see if that changes things

1. So far, to pay for the war, * & co. have given an amnesty to offshored monies
Edited on Sun Jan-28-07 03:10 AM by EVDebs
So far over $217 billion has been 'repatriated' from offshored accounts that corporations et al have squirrelled away

ASA Repatriation Scorecard--$217 billion repatriated, another $100 billion on its way

Maybe Democrats in Congress can add some sticks to the carrots that the R's have so quietly put out there to fund their military adventures overseas, eh ? BTW, this amnesty/repatriation program is set to expire, I don't know when exactly.

2. Why isn't it.....
Would you rather leave things as they are and keep paying for other uninsured people's ER bills when they get sick, then medicaid if they have to have continued care, or
raise taxes so that you also have a good consistent plan yourself and don't have to worry if you want to change or lose your job?

3. Golly, I hope they raise taxes for more billions of tax breaks for corporations
and really, really rich stockholders. I mean, why not raise taxes for something important rather than just health care for the masses? After all, there's plenty of workers all around the world.
