Steve Xxxx There has been a lot of rubbish written/broadcast in America (mostly by neo-conservatives you know the guys that took us to Iraq and Afghanistan with Tony B'liar) about the NHS - whom I work for. The NHS is not perfect but its pretty damn good. ...In making up your minds about anything you are told... be careful where you get your information from - it really is scarey the mistruths we are fed by biased media.
Frank Xxxx Those white conservative Idiots that go on the talk shows and rant about how America is becoming France or Sweden should actually come over and see how proper healthcare systems function, where whole nations are covered and not only those who can afford it. Makes my stomach turn... No they are not not perfect as a perfect system doesn't exist but if the euro model is just not perfect than the american model is downright disgraceful, pathetic and inhumane.
Melissa Xxxxx Amen, brother.
Kathryn Xxxx Thanks fellas -- hopefully most Americans are smart enough to see through the lies & scare tactics - we'll see....
Frank Xxxx The pity is american politicians/elected officials use scare tactics on their own population to secure private interests...
Steve Xxxx Don't be so sure Kathryn - especially with the likes of Rupert Murdoch in charge of a lot of what is read. Everyone of his 175 news editors on 3 continents were pro invading Iraq, no-one dissented. When you consider his broadcasts like Fox and Sky, thats major influence which a lot of people don't question.
MindPilot Very true-most of our major media here in the states exists solely to deliver eyeballs & earlobes to advertisers. Real information and real facts are oftentimes antithetical to that end. The really odd thing is that many of the people you see in the news protesting government health care are already on a government plan -- Medicare. And of course the best one lately was the idea promulgated by the right that Stephen Hawking would be dead if he depended on "socialized healthcare". The fact that he is a Brit and owes his life to the NHS matters not. Must be the accent that fooled 'em!
