OBAMA has been PROMOTING the PUBLIC OPTION at all the townhalls THIS PAST WEEK
Including yesterday in Colorado.

Therefore I am not going to over react to an AP story, about an official who was probably talking out of her ass to Jon King on CNN.

Nonetheless I will be calling my reps and senators again to express support for the public option.

"There are four main ways the reform we’re proposing will provide more stability and security to every American.

First, if you don’t have health insurance, you will have a choice of high-quality, affordable coverage for yourself and your family — coverage that will stay with you whether you move, change your job or lose your job."

Other than Obama himself, I can't think of someone whose words would carry more weight right now on this issue.

20. It's more than just "riled up"..
It has already caused a big chunk of DU to give up completely.

One quote by someone who doesn't even get a vote, and health care reform is dead. :eyes:

It's a miracle Democrats can get anthing done with "supporters" like this.

7. I do think he realizes there's no point without a public option
...and is making that as clear as he can to the people. But one town at a time, with media spin, isn't going to get it over the top.

I sincerely wish he'd do a half-hour infomercial or national address devoted entirely to this topic and at the end urge everyone to contact their elected representatives.

14. We need to get SOMETHING out of the Sen. Finance Committee. It doesn't have to have a
public option. We just need to get it passed. Then merged with the HELP bill, passed by the Senate, same in the House.

We don't know what will be in the final Bill. If House passes a Public Option and the Senate doesn't - Reconcilliation between those two will be the final word. This is a long process. Everyone chill. There are many steps left. We are in the ugly sausage making part.

15. BREAKING - Gibbs: Obama Still Favors Public Option as a Means of Creating Competition and Choice,
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x4017510

Source: CBS News/Face the Nation

(CBS)White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said on Face the Nation Sunday that President Obama is still in favor a government-sponsored health insurance plan -- but does not intend to replicate the beleaguered U.S. Postal Service.

The federal government would be able to successfully administer a health insurance option, Gibbs told CBS Anchor Harry Smith, even though the government-run Postal Service is facing serious financial problems.

"I don't think he was saying that what we were going to do is create the postal service for healthcare," Gibbs said. "The president believes this option of a government plan is the best way to provide choice and competition."

we need to take this misinfo and use our concern as a motivator instead of allowing it to depress us. We can do this! Americans have done much more in the past.

26. The only thing wrong with the postal service is that the cornerstone of their service is obsolete
Just make sure the public option is up to date with current technology.

16. Call to demand *Single Payer*, but say you'll back a strong public option bill if that's the lame
best the Dems can do. We must not start at the least we will accept and bargain down from there. Too bad the Dems have already done that.

17. Obama needs to call in his cabinet and spokespeople
and crack the whip. Tell them: 'You may repeat verbatim what I say. You may NOT interpret what I say, and you may NOT inject your own opinion. You work for me and your official position is mine. Period.'

18. All we really know is THIS IS NOT OVER.
I still believe President Obama is doing everything he can for us -- using his own methods, playing the necessary political games, and working behind the scenes to get the best legislation possible for us.

Call, write, and email the President and your congresscritters to help drown out the determined, hostile voices of the status quo.
