Be careful of what you think and hear about health care
Edited on Sun Aug-16-09 01:37 PM by Botany
part of the for profit Health care industry's game plan is to now say;

Obama is dropping the public option

The public is upset w/ Obama's handling of health care

No matter what the Insurance industry will win

Co-ops are the way to go.

The same firm that did the "swiftboating on Kerry" and "Mrs. Alito's crying game moment," Creative Response Concepts is working to kill health care reform and
has several ins as to planting stories in the media.

The insurance industry, big pharma, and the for profit health care network are spending billions to control the message. Remember as of now there is no bill
and nothing is in concrete .... call the President, your senator, your congress critter, and tell them any bill w/ out a public option is a non starter. Tell Kathleen Sebelius
that you did not vote for the status quo but reform.

Kathleen.Sebelius@hhs.gov

this is our moment .... this is our time ..... hit the keyboard, the phones, the snail mail, the LTTE, and so on ..... time to get health care done ..... Harry Truman started this 1945
nobody is rushing into anything.

A car crash or a cancer diagnosis in Canada, France, Greece, Germany, or Russia means medical treatment ... in the USA it means bake sales, fun runs, or bankruptcy.

Sit down Kathy & President Barack,
We need to talk.

3. Unfortunately neither Obama nor Sebelius are doing anything to
deny this. Even the language used is the language of business, not the language how they are going to do this for the common good.

16. But it's more than that, and much worse..
Now the opposition has linkable proof that "Progressive website Democratic Underground has given up on the public option".

This knee-jerk stuff is dangerous because it gives ammo to our opponents.

19. I don't share your sense of alarm.
It's all speculation right now, on either side of the divide.

Meanwhile, we've got a President who is famous for staying calm, cool and centered under the most intense pressure imaginable. That's one definite plus for our side.

Mind you, I'm not asking any screamers to stop frothing by the mouth or doomsayers to stop predicting the worst. I just don't have the illusion that I can control the behavior of people on the net, or in Congress, or in the White House, lol.

7. K&R. Now is not the time to despair.
We already compromised by giving up single-payer.

Public option is essential.

13. No we didn't compromise on SP.
We were never given that opportunity. Had we started there, like we should have, we would have had that option and the PO would have become the compromise position, and then, it probably would have happened.

Any fool knows that you don't start negotiations at your default position! Always ask for more than you think you can get.

18. I was paraphrasing Howard Dean, and his point was
that we on the left already conceded single-payer, and that we shouldn't budge any further.

20. Well, I cetainly agree to that point.
And perhaps that point is what should be sold to the RW. Be grateful that we're only going for the PO when we really wanted SP.

9. What we're seeing is that $1.4 million a day Big Health Care is spending on propaganda.
It's a storm of confusion, deceit and fear that that's raining down on us. Just keep paddling.

Me, I'm after Single Payer (Medicare For All), as imho, nothing short of that will ever fix this mess. It's why there are so many distractions showered on us, so 'Medicare For All' is never addressed in public.... because the public might like it.

Expanding Medicare to everyone is a concept everyone would immediately understand, if only Big Health Care would ratchet down the screaming fear tactics. They ain't gonna do that.

So, we will be treated to fisticuffs, the screamers, the liars, the confused masses, all fanned hotter by the loyal propagandists at Big Corporate Media.
