David Gregory -- one more media whore
Edited on Sun Aug-16-09 04:50 PM by Cyrano
Okay, so he's not the only one. But after a few months hosting "Meet The Press," how can anyone doubt that he's sold his soul to corporate America?

I've read the threads on how wonderful Rachel Maddow was this morning (up against Dick Armey) and I totally agree. But how come no one remarked that almost anytime she tried to finish a thought, David Gregory cut her off. And anytime they hit a break, Dick Armey was allowed to continue with the crap that he was spouting -- sometimes for up to a full minute.

The first time I got pissed off at David Gregory was a few years ago during a Washington Press Club TV soiree, when Karl Rove did a "rap" number, and good ole' David was on the stage laughing and trying to keep up with the rhythm and Karl. (Picture Walter Cronkite or Sam Donaldson doing that.)

Regarding "Meet the Press," I think that Tim Russert was a nice man and a lousy "journalist." And I also think that David Gregory is a also a lousy "journalist." But then he fits right into the mold of Sunday morning, corporate owned, TV whores.

And regarding that miserable person named Dick Armey, I think he's the scum of the earth. I also chuckle whenever I think of Dick Cavett saying: "Dick Armey. That sounds like a production number in a gay revue."

On edit: As Rachel (and others) has reported, Dick Armey is the highly paid, major lobbyist behind the so-called "grass-roots," town hall "protesters." Aren't you "shocked, just shocked" that David Gregory didn't mention this?

1. I was reading "the" RW site and they considered, at no surprise,
that Armey trampled Rachel. They hear what they want to hear.

2. Armey had a lot more camera time than Rachel.
So many lies. So much "face" time.

If only Rachel could do an hour on her own show shredding everything Armey said. But, MSNBC would never let her do it. Plus, she'd have enough style to not do it without inviting Armey to respond.

Now wouldn't you like to see that? One hour of Rachel vs Armey, without David Gregory in the middle?

3. Jesus, this is horrible,
but I sort of agree with them.

I'm baffled by the celebratory tone here about Rachel Maddow's appearance on MTP. I watched it, and was appalled at how streamrollered she was by Armey. He controlled the conversation, took up LOTS of time, just kept talking, and Rachel, at one point, had an unfortunate stuttering incident, and the other times she spoke up, she just got ignored.

Steamrollered. That's what happened to Rachel on MTP today.

And it was shameful.

Should have been called The Dick Armey Hour......................

4. Really? Everytime she spoke she had the facts and was good.
It was uncomfortable to me.. really felt like the good ole' DC boys network sitting around the table.. trying to not feel uncomfortable around a truthful, woman, lesbian journalist.

As for Dick, the more he spoke, the more he sounded like a Dick. His irrelevant story about the, I suspect fraudulent, story about the man on disability still reaching out to a man who is not in the legislative branch, sounded like a diversion.

AND I suppose it was probably David's idea to sit Dick and Rachel on the same side. It was like watching Obama/ McCain. At no time did he look at her or acknowledge she even sat to the right of his pig self.

5. No, I said nothing about the content of her statements -
don't put words in my mouth, please.

I just commented on the process.

She was steamrollered.

If one were to measure the amount of air time devoured by Armey as opposed to Maddow, I think it would show that she was positively swamped, talked over, and generally dismissed.

It was a shameful display, as another poster here commented, very reminiscent of McPOW and Obama at their "town meeting" during the campaign.

Armey is a bully. I trust he'd turn down an invitation from Rachel to appear on her show, where she'd be in control. He's far too much of a good old boy to put himself in a situation like that..........................
