She tried to pay for treatment out of her own pocket, since she had no insurance. Ultimately, that bankrupted her. She died of metastatic cervical cancer, with not a cent to her name, and in the middle of bankruptcy proceedings. I'm stunned that people who call themselves Christian approve of such a system. Jesus is quite clear that not caring for the poor and sick gets one sent to hell. Read Matthew 25, Glenn, and either support health care for all, or stop calling yourself a Christian.

She gets it right, why America needs a better health care system.

I used to work as a health care consumer advocate, and saw some similar situations myself. The worst was a couple where the woman needed a liver transplant. Because the only match one needs for a liver transplant is a blood type match, her husband qualfied as a donor. Their insurance would pay for her surgery and post-surgical care, but not for the husband's. That's right, insurance wouldn't pay for the surgery that would make liver tissue available for her. We fought long and hard, and couldn't get the insurance company to budge: "It's not in the policy". Finally, and really at the last minute, as her living was failing fast, her husband's employer decided to pay directly for his care, out of company funds, since the insurance company was completely inflexible.

That insurance company would've let the woman die. The heartlessness stuns me.
