A very interesting and enlightening article about the push for health care in this country

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0843/is_3_34/ai_n27871607/?tag=content;col1

and how this "debate" we are having now is just another re-emergence of of one of the longest stuggles in our nation's history.

<snip>
"Congressional conservatives, backed most notably by the American Medical Association, opposed the (Truman) bill. They seized on its heavy support by organized labor and claimed it to be an effort by Democrats to socialize medicine."

The fucking AMA has been screwing America over since the 30s and now they claim they want reform. Frankly, they can kiss my ass. So many damn times we have been close to getting health care reform but every time, for over a century, it has been kicked aside for more pressing issues or shut down by varying powerful interests. We have been fighting this struggle since Roosevelt, and I mean Theodore by the way. This is the time. NOW. My god people, we have been fighting for a century. Well no more. NOW IS THE TIME. WE HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH!

1. Obama yesterday said that Single Payer would be too difficult (my words) that we need a unique
American healthcare. What is unique about the insurance companies controlling our health and gaining riches doing it.

2. My brother has an old newspaper
from Truman's attempt that includes an editorial by the AMA denouncing his attempt at "socialized medicine." It is disgusting because it has been used, as you say, for so long.

At least we now have the Mad as Hell Doctors.
