As with most companies, the dead weight and fat is at the top. I can't quote the salaries of the CEOs of the big insurance companies, but I know they are obscene. If the fat at the top was trimmed, insurance would be a lot cheaper. Same with hospitals.
So, IF we get a public option, will it be not for profit? Or will the government hire some former insurance CEO as boss and pay him/her obscenely?

1. If it's a public option it will be managed by civil service
Salaries are determined by GS salary grade.

I believe the President of the United States has the highest Government Service salary grade.

speculation?

Because the one in depth analysis I've seen of the HELP bill says that the public option would be farmed out to insurance companies to be run. Any help in locating an analysis of the language contained in the bills (HR3200 and the HELP bill) would be appreciated.

6. Either it's public or it isn't take your pick
If you're paying a private organization to manage this for you, then it is not a public option.

It's not speculation, it's an opinion.

puts multiple private insurance companies in charge of running the public pool.

My opinion is that it sucks and that it isn't reform as I see it.

Here's the analysis of the HELP Senate bill.

2. The HELP bill public options (multiple) would be run by insurance companies according to this
analysis

By the way, I am interested in any in depth analysis of the 2 main bills (HR3200 and HELP) already reported out of committee, particularly in regard to the public option. Physicians for a National Health Program have done a number of analysis of the bills.

Does any one know of any other in depth analysis of these bills? I have read what the CBO has reported in their scoring.I would have thought that HCAN or Move-on or DFA or somebody would have published detailed analysis of what these bill actually do and what they mean but I can't find any thing like that? Anybody know why not? I mean wouldn't that help sell people on the idea if they could understand how the idea will work, how it is planned in the bills to be implemented, etc?

4. Goldman Sachs, and billions
Might be a few intermediaries, but in the end that's who will call the shots. Why? Because they OWN our government.

5. The public option will be managed and run by the INSURANCE COMPANIES!!!
Yep, just like most of them are now. Medicaid and Medicare have offices and stuff who come up with the benefits and tell the insurance companies what to do, but they will be run by the millionaire CEO's and minimum wage insurance company workers all currently there now.

A "public option" is a big scam and is a win/win for the insurance companies who will make tons of money with or without it.

7. Your contention is that millionaire health insurance CEOs are currently

9. I used to work at BCBS in Kansas City and we did manage much of
the area's Medicaid and Medicare business. They give the "rules" to the health insurance company to follow. The health insurance company puts together the provider network, manages benefits and members, and pays claims.
