LA Fitness Shooting Victim needs Car Wash to pay for Medical Expenses
Edited on Mon Aug-17-09 10:00 AM by RamboLiberal
Our wonderful health care in America! Get shot by a madman and if your uninsured your family and friends have to hold a car wash to help make a pittance payment on care for your injury.

A car wash became a support system on Sunday for one of the victims of the LA Fitness shooting spree.

Heather Sherba, 22, showed up on crutches for a car wash held to help her pay her mounting medical bills.

Sherba was one of 12 people shot inside of the LA Fitness in Collier Township Aug. 4. Three of the victims died.

Sherba did not want to talk about the shooting. She was hit in the leg and her teeth were damaged.

However, she was thrilled at the show of spuport at the charity car wash at the Pep Boys in Robinson Township.

"I'm just absolutely grateful that everybody's supportive of me and came out to lend a helping hand," said Sherba.

Love how all the stations in Pittsburgh gleefully reported this story without blinking & asking why this woman needed a car wash to help pay her probably huge medical bills.

1. Why did she need care in the first place? Guns and ammo.

2. See? We don't need a national health system in this country. Car washes will fill the gap!
:sarcasm:

4. Don't forget Bake Sales & Candy Bar sales
:(

All you have to do here in the US, is tell the public about all the gruesome details of your injury, maybe flash a scar or two, some medical tubing, a catheter or let them watch you limp or use crutches or a wheel chair...and then they go all "American Idol-y" and vote whether to help you or not.. It's all so Coliseum-like.. Thumbs up? or a thumb to the neck..

Are you cute?
Do you have a cute kid you can be photographed with?
a kitten?

Those all help too..

Never mind the fact that you have to forfeit the last shred of personal dignity you have left, when you have to go on tv and beg for donations:puke:

3. You know those canisters on the counter of every convenience store
in America? The ones that say "help ----------- pay for a needed operation"
Doesn't it make you want to cry every time I see one of those.
And you know they get little or no money anymore.
George Bush turned America into a 3rd world country. In 8 years.

6. K & R.
As someone said in another thread , go to Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Australia, and any other developed nations and you will never see people reduced to BEGGING for health care. It is shameful that this occurs on a daily basis in every city and town of the "richest" country in the world.

7. she's lucky she's not in France
if she were in France, her medical care would be covered by the government, but her moral character would be weakened. This woman will be a better person because she is dependent on a charity car wash. :sarcasm:

8. The media are in charge of our country. Everything
they report has two sides, but the side that makes the most noise is the one they report on. They try to make us think they are presenting both sides because "they are fair and balanced." They report on the Gingrichs, the Delays, Becks, etc. because they know they can cause an uproar in the country. I sometimes think the media are the ones who are most traitorous. We are being manipulated from all sides. Our reactions fuel the media. We have become a two-faced country ruled by charlatans.

9. universal
This is also a good example why health care should be universal (including coverage for even the young and healthy), and why people should not feel they are being forced into coverage.
