American Family Association founder hospitalized in critical condition with meningitis
The Rev. Don Wildmon, founder of the American Family Association, was in critical condition at a Tupelo hospital, where he's being treated for meningitis.

AFA President Tim Wildmon said his 71-year-old father was diagnosed with the disease over the weekend at North Mississippi Medical Center. On Monday, Wildmon said his father's condition had improved over the last 24 hours. Meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord.

Don Wildmon's organization began as the National Federation for Decency in 1977, promoting family values and waging boycotts to combat what it deemed pornography and violence on television and in magazines.

1. I will give him the same compassion he gives liberals and moderates, not to
mention our gay brothers and sisters.

Enough said.

5. Maybe he'll learn that whole compassion thing there?
I doubt it, but hope springs eternal

I hope he gets well soon - I don't wish meningitis on anyone

But he is a complete asshole

8. My first big crush died from meningitis...
I hadn't seen her since the early 1970s but learned a few years ago that she passed away in 1993. She was 39.

9. If he is a man of Faith he will put his trust only in God
and put aside the lure of demon-bred, secular medical "science"! If God wants him to live he will spare him.

11. But God created the meningococcus bacteria, did he not?

Neisseria meningitidis, specifically. That's what the creationists all say.

Perhaps it's all part of the plan.
