Thom Hartmann said this morning that on the RW talk shows, they are continually urging their listeners to call their representatives.

I always believed you get more flies with honey than with vinegar, but I've gotten to the point where I don't even explain WHY I want them to vote the way I want them to vote :7, I just say if you don't vote for X, you've lost my support and I will contribute to your competitor's campaign. Have a nice day. I've even e-mailed other representatives and said 'even though I'm not one of your constituents, if you don't vote for X, I will contribute to your competitor's campaign.

Hate that it's come down to threats, but I do think money talks (too bad I don't have any to back up those threats :7).

I emailed the White House a lengthy letter yesterday, called Chaka Fattah today, emailed Casey, Specter, and Fattah a couple of days ago. I'm trying to work up the courage to call Specter. It took me half an hour just to be brave enough to called Fattah's office but I did it! :D I'm proud of myself because I don't do all that well talking on the phone about politics if I don't have a script to follow or something like you do with phone banking. I managed to string some sentences together, though. I think I made sense! I was shaking with nervousness. That probably sounds stupid but I really don't do well with this sort of thing.

I called around 12:30 and once I was on hold it took 10 minutes.

The woman who answered sounded downright harried. She kept saying, "I understand, I understand!" as I told her I voted for and support Obama but he HAS to stand on his hind legs and not let the damned Republicans roll over us again. He has to fight for either single payer or a public option or he will lose his support.

I wound up crying as I told her about my grandson who has no job, no health insurance, high blood pressure and failing kidneys.

"I understand, I understand!"

Maybe she does. Maybe she will pass the word along. Maybe it will matter...

Voiced my opinion and sent links to threads in DU showing the outrage at the thought of dumping public option. Course I write 3 or 4 times a week talking about the effect on the working class if we are mandated to buy insurance but the premium costs aren't controlled. They probably think I'm a stalker. Tried to call today but did not get through. Happy to hear they are swamped with calls from our side. :bounce:

I can't believe someone actually has this much time on their hands and is expending any amount of effort to say the exact same thing thousands of other people are calling in to say.
