Republicans are probably laughing their asses off at democratic fracturing re: health care
Edited on Mon Aug-17-09 04:27 PM by Cant trust em
They want nothing to pass, so they're probably salivating over the possibility of the house dems not voting for a bill that doesn't contain a public option while some senate dems consider a the public option a deal breaker.

6. That's one of the results of having a diverse party with diverse views and ideas on moving forward
The GOP is a smaller, more tight-knit, limited-issue voting contingent, so by nature of their demographic, they are much less likely to split like the Dems do on contentious issues.

7. I have a theory and could be way off base. I am watching carefully
to see how many Republican will vote for the CO-OPs. Let us
be fair. Republican in Congress are not stupid. They know
the Co-ops will not work and will end up a Royal Mess.
They have encouraged Conrad and Baucus to push CO-OPs.

I have a feeling they will not vote for co-ops and will
be laughing their sides off when they come apart and the
people are once again mad at Democrats. The Democrats
will deserve it because they will have voted for them.

9. They want nothing to pass and when it happens they will get to blame the Democrats.
They get to have their cake and eat it too.

10. Insurance companies want the individual mandate.
I think their slaves, Republican politicians, will fight to pass some kind of "insurance reform" that enriches their masters.

I do not believe for a second that Republicans don't want any bill to pass. They do. They just have to appease their rabid base by pretending to oppose anything Democrats do. Then, when the bill passes, the Republicans will laugh all the way to the bank.

I agree that they're happy about Democrats fighting over this. I am sure they love seeing the administration knife the Progressive Caucus.

11. I'm sure they are enjoying the disarray at the moment
They will not enjoy it so much if we pass the bill with a public option. This is job 1 right now, people! Call, write, email, and raise hell. The public option is crucial for even a smidgen of real reform.
