Well, that's the way I look at it. As part of their new name/company, they've thanked me for my many years of being a loyal customer by demanding I keep at least $100 in my checking account at any and every given moment or else I will be charged $15. If I pick up a $3 pack of tp and I have $102 in my account, I get charged $15 for using my own fucking money. IOW, they want me to loan them $100 of my money every month, or they'll charge me $15. I rarely get below a couple of hundred bucks in my checking acct anyway, but that's not the point. So fuck them. I'm now going to try and find a new, LOCAL bank.

3. TD Bank
TD brought George W. Bush up here to yak it up at some yakfest over in Toronto there. Now, that makes me wonder a lot. What would that guy have to tell anybody about??

6. I've been with them for years, starting when my local bank was bought out.
It's my same, regular ol' checking account I've always had, which now falls into the "Convenience Checking" category. But since I've had it for years, I don't get the "no minimum daily balance" promotion. Even if I did, I'd leave. It wasn't long ago that it'd be a luxury if I still had $100 in my account by the time my next paycheck rolled around. Hell, often I was lucky if I had $10. They're essentially holding my last $100 hostage for a $15 ransom. What the fuck kind of "service fee" is required to process transactions electronically? Especially when you're doing millions of them a day? I could almost understand .15¢ given the volume they do, but $15 is outright theft. Between my wife and I we have four accounts with TD Bank(north). We're planning on closing all of them.

7. The $15 is not a fee for a transaction
It is the monthly fee for having an account. Which they waive if your account daily balance doesn't go below $100.

On the other hand, it doesn't seem like a competitive monthly fee, and other banks with no minimum daily balance charge $3 or $6 per month.

Given that you have four accounts and that they have balances as low as less than $100, TD will be happy to see you go.

Holy crap, where did you come up with all those facts? Where did I say I have "four accounts that have balances as low as less than $100?" Are you TD employee or something? Or maybe you work for their advertising firm? Are you serious? My personal checking account, into which half my paycheck goes each week, is but ONE of FOUR accounts my wife and I have with TD. Two others are savings/MM accounts. The other is our "life" account...we use it to live...we pay our bills out of it, we fix our car out of it, we buy stuff and travel out of it...we're "good little bank customers." But MY money, the part of my paycheck that goes into MY account which I use for anything from gas for my car to picking up a 12-pack on the way to a friend's house on a Saturday...that's still money. Still real money, and $100 is real money to me. $100.

TD wants me to give them $100 to use for whatever they see fit, and if I give them anything less than $100 on any given day, they'll automatically take $15 out of the same account. What the fuck kind of deal is that? If you think it's cool that all banks fuck you like this, I'm not sure you belong on DU. This is absurd...how did my account change over the last seven years? It hasn't. Not at all. But now I'll get penalized for not allowing TD to pool $100 of my money into a giant interest-bearing fund from which they'll make millions. My $15, when it's gone, will not be noticed by TD. But the $100 that I know is in my account and not theirs after I've switched to a CU or a local bank...priceless.

5. Dump all the big banks
and move your ass(ets) to a credit union! They actually work for their members, not a bunch of stockholders looking to screw you over.
